West Kingston is an unincorporated village in the town of South Kingston; not to be confused with North Kingston or Kingston. A few thousand people call the village home. It was the county seat of Washington County for a number of years even though the village never had a town government. The old Washington County Courthouse was completed in 1892 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This was why I stopped here because the old courthouse is quite nice and when they no longer needed it as a courthouse they did not tear it down, they made it into the Courthouse Center For the Arts; an art museum, a center for performing arts and concerts and a place to educate the kids and other public in the arts. This is SO much better than just tearing down the building. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
