A much bigger rooftop bar is the Terrace at Marion Square, an open-air restaurant built atop Millennium Music at the corner of King and Calhoun streets and with a view of the newly-renovated Marion Square. It's always a happening place and a lot of fun, but unlike the Rooftop at Vendue, you can't see the water.
Finally, the new and extremely swank Market Pavilion Hotel has the Pavilion Bar and Cafe--another fantastic view. 225 East Bay Street

Located above Saracen restaurant on East Bay Street, Charlie's is the locals' best-kept secret. You have to practically walk through an alley and then the kitchen and up some stairs to get there. But once you're there it is so worth it. Charlie's is small, beautiful, and stylish. Great low-key place. If you want a local hang out where you can almost always get a seat and it's not overrun by college students this is a great choice.
