Several churches have secret garden type graveyards that are worth exploring. The one in these photos is behind the Unitarian church located off King Street, between Cumberland and Queen Streets.

Charleston was a big pirate town back in the day. You can take a tour with Eric, who wears a very authentic pirate costume and brings his big parrot on the tour.

Marion Square is full of monuments. Formerly known as Citadel Square, it's a rectangular plot of land given to the city in 1758. Since these photos, it has been renovated and new monuments added.

    College of Charleston

A walk around the campus was interesting because it's not the average college campus. Many of the buildings are unique and the walking paths, sometimes red brick, are lined with lamp posts and trees.

    Carriage Ride

by kinielena Updated Feb 16, 2004

I would take a carriage ride through the battery. One word of advice though...do it before 5:00 because after they do not take you through the residential areas which includes the battery.

Charleston is a high cultural city. There is so much history, personality and drama, that even in three days we could not begin to experience its totality.

It is a tall long curving bridge. The oldest span was built many years ago and is narrow. If you drive your passengers but not you can enjoy the view.
