The Old Oyster Factory is a wonderful and fun way to enjoy island fares. Ask for a window seat and treat yourself to watching the locals harvesting endless beds of oysters! During the warmer months, stroll out on the back deck to get a closer look! The feature is oysters in just about every way you can imagine along with a variety of other yummy seafood and meat dishes.
Favorite Dish: Raw, Oysters Rockerfeller and Oysters Savannah are amongst my favorites. They also have a great crab leg special during their happy hours that's always a treat.

This in my opion is the "Coup de gras" of the Hilton Head Island restaurants. Save your appetites, because this is truly a treat. The menu isn't huge, but every item is a thing of beauty! I think the prices are very reasonable considering the personal attention and quality of everything involved. Reservations are a must because this is a unique, scenic and private little spot off the local bay. The view is as spectacular as the food, and a window seat or an outdoor table (during the warm months) is a must!
Favorite Dish: The smoked sampler platter is an absolute must. For the entree', there are daily specials and I can't even begin to suggest a favorite - that's to each individual taste. The wine selection is exemplory and the staff is very knowledgeable with great suggestions. Make sure to ask for Robin as your server - it will make your trip complete!

Address: off the main island highway (watch for their sign)
This is a great place for Happy Hour, appetizers, full dinner and great beers! It's located in Coligny Plaza and surrounded by a plethera of other local shops and island treats. Great prices and a huge variety of combination dinners for every palate. A wonderful way to enjoy beers of the world with their "country buckets". These feature a collection of local and european beers that are really fun to explore!
Favorite Dish: We always start with fresh oysters on the half-shell, then a nice big tray of cajun-style crawfish. The Dufuski island crab cakes are a must, along with their "buffalo bites". For a full dinner, try their specialty "Steamers Platter" which features either one or two lobsters, clams, mussels, crawfish and shrimp. This is to DIE for!!

Any of the restaurants in the resorts are nice. The Quarterdeck is very nice as it has a view of the harbor and the ocean. Sea Pines has lots of great restaurants. I went to Julips once and it's a great place for Valentine's day or a special occasion. If you've got the money...take a trip to The Daufuskie Island Club. In the Inn that faces the ocean is one of the nicest restaurants in the area. It faces the ocean and may weddings have been had there such as teh hiers to the Coca-Cola fortune. There's also many celebrities that can be spotted there.
Favorite Dish: Low Country Boil, Oysters, and grilled fish.

we really like the HILTON HEAD MICRO BREW-good food and great beer!
Next used to be the WILD WING CAFE-not now- the service was terrible, the food was cold and the result was food poisoning so it has now gone to the bottom of the list.
We liked the GREAT PLAINS CATTLE CO-good steak and great service.
Fot ethnic food we always enjoy Kyoto Japanese Steak House.
We went to Tony Romas for the first time on Hilton Head. some of our group went there this time and said it was good.
There is a new place called DO-Si- Does which was suggested by the locals-there are two locations-one right near the Sea Pines Circle-food was good and the service very good.
They also suggested Alexanders but we did not have time to go there.
AUNT CHILADAS is always good for Mexican food and Crabby Nicks is a family type seafood restaurant. the Hilton Head Diner is okay and is also open 24 hours a day
the Huge Seafood restaurant was doing some renovations when we were there so we didnot get a chance to go there.
Hofbauhaus has a very good reputation for their German food.
OReillys is more like a pub and they have specials most nights and their prices are reasonable.
All of these restaurants are not on plantations.
On Shipyard Plantation-The Crowne Plaza serves a great buffet breakfast and has a good reputation for other meals and the scenery is very pretty while you are eating.
On the local access TV there is a show every night whic offers coupons for reduced rates at the area restaurants. For example, they may have $10.00 off of a meal for 2 people. Our timing was bad but I intend to use it next time. There is also a website where you can get the information and they send the coupons to you so you could have them before you get there if you know where you want to eat.
