Never ever stay down town Myrtle in the first few weeks of June.
Unique Suggestions: If you are going during the first weeks of June, book a place south of the pavilion or in North Myrtle Beach. Otherwise you are going to be surrounded by High School grads.
Fun Alternatives: Some of the nicer places south, The Landmark Resort, Crowne Reef, Compass Cove. The Caravelle is closer into town but is a great place also because the people running it are so nice. Seawatch is in an awesome area. Down a street away from the main drag but ocean front. Then when you are heading out to the main highway, you have Tanger outlets and a Wal-mart on either side of your street and a mall directly across the street. You cant beat that area.
The Landmark is the nicest when you have little kids because of their overstreet walk. You never have to cross the busy street with your kids to get to parking.
Compass Cove is super nice but has slow elevators in the middle of summer.
Seawatch has a daily activity for kids to join in. Things like making a macrame necklace or making a candle.
If you have kids, try to hit the bigger dinner places by 5pm to avoid a long wait. Damons, Seafare, Ghostship ( Murrells Inlet ) are all nice places and some have discounts for getting there early for dinner.
If you're in North Myrtle try Ocean Garden. There is a coupon in one of the books at most of the hotels for getting there early. Huge chinese buffet with crablegs but they also have a grill that does any type stirfry right in front of you and primerib. Cant beat this for the price.
If you arent worried about price, hit Seafare at least once while you're in Myrtle. The buffet is so very large and all different types of foods. It is worth at least one trip.

Unique Suggestions: Just say "No thanks" and walk away.
Fun Alternatives: Never give your REAL

Any place along Ocean Blvd. is going to be crowded with people. Same with the main street a little further away, Kings Hwy. If you like to do people watching, either drive the loop of these two roads, or grab a chair and sit along Ocean Blvd. A lot of people bring their hot rods or motorcycles here to show off.
Fun Alternatives: There is no way to avoid this area. The hotels are on Ocean Blvd. and the restaurants and fun parks are on Kings Hwy.

Even at peak season, lodging can be found cheaper than making reservations. North Myrtle Beach is newer, make sure you see your lodgings before you drop a dime.
