    We eventually stopped near Calabash Seafood (which is not in Calabash) at the Chinese place with the 102 piece buffet (It's now 120 pieces). It was $5.25 for all you could eat for seniors. (Regular people pay $1 more)

    Afterwards we walked back and looked at the waterway which was behind the restaurant.

    This is within walking distance of the marina. It is apparently another chain that I haven't heard about. The website says:

    "Restaurant Size: 6,300 square feet including dining room and bar area seating approximately 246 guests. Patio areas available.

    "Interior Design: Earth-toned colors and warm, welcoming decor featuring vintage and contemporary Carrabba family photographs, and memorabilia. "

    They do have photos of the family all over the place.

    "Exterior Design: A lush rooftop garden complete with trees, shrubs and flowering vines. "

    That's kind of what I remember too.

    Favorite Dish: Dinner for the two of us with tax and tip was $36.78 I don't remember what I had. Probably pasta. This is what the website says:

    "Calamari, chicken marsala, steamed mussels, homemade lasagne and pizza baked in a wood-fired oven; unique pasta with a variety of homemade sauces and fresh fish, seafood and meats cooked over a wood-fired grill. "

    Fine pasta in a sauce of crushed tomatoes, garlic, olive oil and basil - add chicken or shrimp

    We went up to dinner to T-Bonz, and they said we'd have to wait. It was only 5:15 and the place was half empty. We said we didn't want to wait and walked out. Then we went to a crab place - same story - empty restaurant and we'd have to wait. We walked out. We went to Johnny Rocket's, which is a hamburger and malt type place. The wait staff does the macarena and dances on the counters. Had hamburger type food and milkshakes - $25.93 for two

    Favorite Dish: ice cream - I always want ice cream when I'm traveling by boat. Our boat doesn't have a freezer that keeps ice cream. But they also have burgers, fries, sandwiches, chili, shakes, malts and apple pie

  • Carrabba's Italian Grill: Fantastic Meal!

    We went here on our family trip to Myrtle for Spring Break - what a great experience. The place was full and we had reserved (large table of 6 adults and 7 kids) - our table was ready right away. Our waiter Tracey had a great personality, was attentive and funny and made us all feel welcome. The food was great and the service was quick without feeling rushed. The open kitchen gives the restaurant a nice atmosphere. The kids meals are reasonably priced. Our bill came to about $100 with tip (including a glass of wine each) for a family of 4. They added 18% gratuity to the bill since our table was large, but I gladly gave our waiter another $10 for superior service. I had no idea this place was a chain, but it certainly has a feeling of a family Italian higher end restaurant. Make sure you try it out!

    Favorite Dish: Kids - loved the pizza and ravioli
    Adults - mussels for appetizer and spaghetti for dinner.

    Dick's Last Resort: Just go, for the hat.

    Dick's Last Resort is a chain... you know how they go. The waiters throw your forks at you, make fun of you, and give you hats that say just the opposite of what ya really are... they PICK ON YOU!!! It's great fun though. The food isn't the best but the fun is worth it. And, what's better than humiliating your kids and the elders you take with you?

    We went our first night at North Myrtle because 1. I had been talking about it for weeks, how cool and fun the place was! and 2. we were frakking hungry, wanted some greasy food, and well Barefoot Landing (where Dick's is located) was very close to our resort.

    The kids, to this day, still talk about how awesome and fun it was there. We sat outside, because inside it was just too dang loud. We got to talk, be talked to, talked with, and well we got our 'condom hats', and the kids remember (each letter) what our hats said, especially dads...

    The food itself is so greasy, you will probably lose an artery or five or perhaps be put on whatever hyptertension meds there are out there, once you return from vacation. But hey, it's vacation. So eat, drink, be happy, and grease yourself to death. The drinks could have been stronger, but I solved that by marching to the bar and proclaiming my Irish heritage and demanding I get 'what I pay for', and was happily given another shot of liquor into my little cup.

    The surroundings of Dick's at Barefoot Landing itself is something you'll want to really take in. Lots of shopping, lots of scenery (watch for the alligator in the water!), the people, the tourists. The wait staff themselves are a sight to behold; they are there to entertain your touristy butts, and they do a marvelous job at it! You can also shop (we spent as much in the gift shop as we did for dinner/drinks), and get yourself and your kids some shirts that say stuff like "I Love Dick's" that will get really interesting looks from the grandparents and others who don't know what the "Last Resort" is all about.

    Favorite Dish: I got the fish something or other fried something with other fried stuff. Hubby got something that was also a fish fried something or other. My darlin' stepson got himself a chicken that was rotisserie or maybe it was fried too. Some sides that were fried (French?), and my daughter got herself something that was also steeped in grease of some type of meat variety.

    The menu? All fried, very greasy, but OH so yummy. Kids will love it, adults won't mind it (to soak up all that alcohol), and well the butcher paper that the food is delivered on turns gray from all that grease... you get the idear.

    Enjoy the banter from the wait staff; they love this job, they are great at it, and they treat us tourists like royalty (albeit a bit down on the ladder rung of royalty, mayhap).

    Also, keep the hats, they come in handy when you've been parasailing or doing some other water-involved sport and yer butts are wet in the car. Just pull the butcher-paper, condom-shaped hats out of the trunk, flatten them out, and cop a squat - see? No wet seats in the family sedan!

    SeaBlue Tapas Restaurant & Bar: Guaranteed best meal in the Myrtle Beach area!

    See the website: www.seablueonline.com This restaurant has been rated as one of the top restaurants in the state, top 10 in the Grand Strand.

    I am partial, as my wife and I own it, but she is a chef, and we love good food. We have left other lists of the best restaurants around the world that we have tried as well.

    SeaBlue is definitely NOT Myrtle Beach. True there are 1600 restaurants, but 1500 of them are the same deep fried buffet experience. I have posted a list of the best in the area separately.

    Fisherman's Marketplace: New Marina Restaurant

    The restaurant here called "Fisherman's Marketplace" is open for the first time in two visits, so we went up for the early bird specials. The restaurant is very attractive inside - they've obviously spent some thought on the decor. It is decorated as if it was an actual fish market.

    In good weather you can sit outside and have a great view of the ICW. When they have the Christmas Boat Parade, this is a prime location for viewing it.

    Favorite Dish: Bob had steamed Gulf shrimp, baked potato and salad for $7.95 and I had the rib eye (also with baked potato and salad) for $8.95.

    We have not eatten here because we got here at 5:15 and saw mostly empty tables and wait staff, and they said we'd have to wait 15 minutes for a table. I object to this on principle so we left.

    Favorite Dish: Their website says: Specializing in aged choice beef, grilled salads, lowcountry dishes, fresh local seafood, vegetarian entrees plus many other signature items. Casual, affordable, friendly. A full-service bar.

    We didn't eat here because they had an empty restaurant at 5:30 pm and still told us that we had to wait for a table. (more than just 5 or 10 minutes). I object to that on principle

    Favorite Dish: Their website says: Blue Crabs, Stone Crabs, Soft Shell Crabs, Alaskan King Crab Legs, and Dungeoness Crabs prepared steamed, stuffed, barbecued, boiled, or sizzling. Plus shrimp, fried seafood, chicken, steak, pasta & sandwiches.

    Great atmospher, wide menu selections, can also dine on short order fare in the court yard. Live music nightly.

    Favorite Dish: Jambalia is great and if your lucky enough to come on a night when Wahoo is the special - it's wonderful !
    The pulled pork sandwich is lean and delicious.
