    Docksider's Grille: Seafood Dockside

by lmkluque Updated Jun 10, 2012

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

A restaurant with a nautical decor, a nice view of the water and a marina. It was a cool day, but the view was really nice. The service was, attentive and the food was well prepared.

We went to this place because it was near a body of water and was a peaceful place to spend an afternoon with friends.

This was a more expensive place, but worth it, I thought.

Favorite Dish: I had the lobster and the other ladies had the shrimp. We had a few drinks and a wonderful time.

The seafood was tender and delicious.

    Fuzzy after a few drinks.

Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament: Dinner Theater For The Whole Family!

by lmkluque Updated Jun 5, 2012

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

1093 AD is the time, you are one of a thousand guests of the royal family, at a royal tournament. Feast on a hearty four course banquet served medieval style. Fearless knights on horseback compete in games of skill and accuracy. It is great fun for the whole family!

The price may seem a bit high, but considering you get to travel back in time, experience an evening of thrilling entertainment and a four course dinner, it's really a bargain

Favorite Dish: The Bill of Fare included:
    Garlic Bread
    Vegetable Soup
    Roasted Chicken
    Spare Rib
    Herb-Basted Potato
    Pastry of the Castle
    Beverage

    Rosa Linda's Cafe: Mexican Food

by lmkluque Updated Jun 5, 2012

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Good Mexican food is hard to find outside of California so I wasn't sure that this was the right choice. In fact, originally, my daughter-in-law did not even like Mexican food. It seems things had change since her first days in the U.S.A. Not only did she take me to this restaurant for dinner one night, the food of the TexMex style and though I don't care too much for that type, it was actually a very good meal.

    Update:

When I was there, this seemed to be a family type restaurant and the evening we were there it was full of happy customers. Now it seems that the owner's kids are in charge and have made it into more of a sports bar kind of place, not so great for kids.

Favorite Dish: We both started with Margaritas. I ordered Carne Asada. It came with rice and frijoles, naturally and the flavors were pretty good.

Murrels Inlet - Hannah Banana's Sunshine Cabana

    by ant1606 Written Oct 24, 2011

Great location at the Wacca Wache Marina. Quiet and relaxed environment overlooking the dock, awaiting a colorful sunset while perched on a stool at a table on the patio. A cold Anchor Steam beer - one among my favorite American brews - and a gorgeous "Shrimp and Grits" cooked to perfection don't need additional comments. Just try it!

    Hyman's: Seafood Nirvana?

by wondertrev Updated Apr 4, 2011

Wonderful place. Spectacular seafood that doesn't require reservatins or a bank loan. Perhaps the best seafood I've ever had, and was sooooo surprised at the low prices.
If in Charleston, you MUST go here.

Sticky Fingers: Perfect Name for a BBQ Restaurant

by DueSer Written Feb 17, 2009

Because this is historic downtown Charleston, even the restaurants are located in historic spots and SF is no exception. It is housed in a building from 1875 with brick work and wood plank floors. But that's not the reason to come here. It's the food!

Even though they are a chain, this is one of the best. Their BBQ is good enough to be bottled and sold all over. If you're a BBQ connaisseur, they serve theirs Memphis-style, but basically all that means is that it's really good.

Since it's located right down in the middle of the historic district, you can easily eat lunch or dinner here during a full day of sight-seeing and never have to interrupt your route.

They open at 11am every day.

Favorite Dish: Their cheeseburgers have 2 different kinds of cheese, bacon, and barbeque sauce - gorgeous.

Favorite Dish: All the food is good, but get there EARLY or be prepared for an ungodly wait, no matter what day of the week it is.

I love Bubba Gumps! Its downtown Charleston and has good seafood as well as ribs
Also check out Hyman's in downtown, its voted number one in South Carolina for seafood but make sure you have time because there is most often quite a wait to get in!
A Forrest Gump look alike can sometimes be spotted mingling with the diners

Favorite Dish: The ribs are my fave!

    by nook77 Written Aug 26, 2002

My favorites are California Dreaming, Bert's southern soul food joint, Mac's on Main (jazz joint), and Savannah's. But, Columbia has a very good selection of restaurants to choose from.
ample portions, and a good price.

Favorite Dish: Southern soul food (collard greens, rice and gravy smothered in gravy, mac and cheese, fried chicken, baked ham and candied yams, black eyed peas with ham hocks, and for desserts, bring on the peach cobbler or chocolate cake. Next in line is seafood, any kind.

    California Dreamin'!: California Dreamin'!

    by jaybird199 Written Aug 25, 2002

Uniquely South Carolina. My favorite is the one in Charleston Harbor. It was built to look like an old Fort and it is very airy in feeling and you can overlook the harbor and get good views of the city.

Favorite Dish: The California Dreaming salad. It has the works and is huge and all meals are served with a croissant and honey. :)

by kosmikkat Written Aug 25, 2002

There are many fine places to eat, particularly if you
enjoy seafood. Some hotels have buffets.
!!Please remember that at Peak times..you either need to eat CLOSE to wear you stay (for evening meals) OR Leave very early as to avoid traffic jams! One year, it took us 2 hours to go 6 blocks.
There are numerous places to eat, but we used to enjoy a place called the 'shrimper'. Lots of seafood for the dollars. A great value.

Favorite Dish: ANY FISH... wonderful crab...most places.

My favorite place is a little bar and grill called Dirty Don's. A place to relax and enjoy the deck out front.
The deck is the place to be. Limited seating though so don't go during peak meal times.

Favorite Dish: The seafood nachos. Awesome!!! They only serve them sometimes so keep you fingers crossed.

by renevansm Written Aug 24, 2002

We had a number of very good to excellent meals although I don't know that any of them really stood out. I would suggest looking over the local travel guides and picking out what looks good, that what we did and we were not disappointed.
The atmosphere and service in all of the places that we went was great. The prices were on the expensive side although not outrageous. Just what you would expect from an upscale touristy place. There were probably deals to be had but we were on holiday and we were not searching for bargains.

Favorite Dish: We had everything from wings to Mexican food. The seafood was in most cases very good.
