When we checked into this hotel, the carpet in our room was damp and smelled strongly of chemicals....more
The northern gentleman who described "meat and three" restaurants probably ate at this place! You pick a meat and an assortment of side dishes, which are loosely called "vegetables." I had the vegetable plate and was not overly impressed. The mac and cheese was a little bland and lumpy, and the strawberry cobbler was tasty but obviously made with strawberry preserves (yeah, I know, those are not vegetables but that's what they call it). We ate here on a Sunday afternoon and it seemed to be heavily favored by the elderly and the after church crowd. The restaurant was clean and the service was fast and friendly. Prices are reasonable and probably good for those trying to feed a large family. I could have sworn I saw the Duggar clan, but they aren't from SC. My grandma likes this place, so I would go again for her, but not really for my own enjoyment.

We had breakfast here several times. The food was excellent, especially the pancakes. They were sweet, light, and fluffy. I did not feel the need to add any syrup, that's how good they were! The restaurant was completely SLAMMED on a Saturday morning. They did not have enough waitstaff working and we waited a really long time for our food. The service was friendly, though, and on subsequent visits the wait was not bad at all. The ambiance is typical family restaurant-- think Perkin's or something like that, lots of old white people and families with little kids, after-church crowd, etc. Overall, this was a good place to eat with the family.
Favorite Dish: Pancakes! They really are the best on earth.Related to:

Great care is taken during preparation of food.
One of my favorite dishes is the Club Sandwich Plate. 3 pieces of bread lightly toasted with mayo, lettuce, fresh tomatoes, sweet bacon, and sliced ham with cole slaw and fries. Sometimes when I can't finish the plate, they offer a bag or container to take home with me. The people their are good company, as well as good hearted. Most times you'll hear some country rock radio in the background. Their hot dogs compare to no others ! That's how good they are !
Favorite Dish: All their dishes are good ! From the Hamburger Steak with Gravy & Onions to The Chicken Sandwich Plate to the Chef Salad with your choice of toppings. Flounder and Shrimp can also be had there ! Scrumptious !Related to:

This is a very conservative area. Most places can't sell alcohol on Sundays (I am not sure of the exact laws, but we were not able to buy beer at the store or have a drink at a bar and grill). There are, however, "private clubs" where the members can purchase alcoholic beverages on Sundays. You can become a member for a small fee, or just come in as someone's guest. These private clubs are not like country clubs or anything fancy (there may be some high-falutin' ones, but not on my itinerary). The specific places I visited were dive-ish (which I prefer) and the bartender/waitress just asked, "Y'all are members, right?"
Dress Code: I recommend wearing a shirt and shoes. Otherwise, anything seems to go.
