downtown summerville is located on US 17 about a mile south of I-26. summerville's charming historic district has scores of victorian homes and buildings. downtown summerville also has an excellent collection of restaurants and shops. summerville is a very nice day trip when visiting charleston and the ashley river plantations. downtown summerville is listed on the national register of historic places.

st. paul's is a beautiful wooden church located on w. carolina street just south of downtown. in the spring the churchyard has a beautiful display of azaleas and dogwoods.

the summerville old town hall is located on west carolina street just south of downtown. this interesting antebellum building has a beautiful display of azaleas in the spring. not open to the public.
