We were driving slowly toward Summerville so that we wouldn't have to check in to the motel too early, so we stopped in Walterboro - this time we ate at Shoney's
Favorite Dish: Bob had a choclate shake, chicken nuggets and fries.
I had chicken salad and macaroni
Each of them was a $4.99 lunch special
We stopped in Waltersboro about 1230 for lunch and the first place was the Long Horn Steak House, which was mostly a buffet and which had a busload of people there. The people were from Jacksonville FL and they were returning from a trip to the Amish Country of PA.
Favorite Dish: The buffet was not very appealing and it is usually not a good deal for us as we don't eat that much, so we tried to order actual food. This proved to be a problem. Bob ordered chili and they were out. So eventually we both had a pulled pork sandwich and then he had a brownie sundae and I had key lime pie. Service was very slow and lunch took us an hour. In the end it cost us more than it would have to eat at the buffet
duke's barbecue has been a walterboro institution for over twenty five years. this buffet style restaurant serves excellent south carolina style pulled pork barbecue. along with the barbecue the one price buffet includes vegetables, mac and cheese, and corn bread and a drink. inexpensive.
I'm 55 years old, and I've never had fresher seafood; Maybe, maybe, some just as fresh, but I don't remember when or where. I ate oysters and shrimp last night. If I were in the area again tonght, I'd eat there again and I'd have shrimp and oysters again. The Palmetto Amber ale goes real well with it.
Favorite Dish: Combo platter: oysters and low-country shrimp.
I can't believe it - it is still owned by good old Jackson Hughes - my American Government Teacher's husband!!!
