Behind the Spink County Court House(south) is the Spink County Museum. Open on weekday in the summer,you will find a large collection of mounted butterflies and insects. They are all the collection of one family that took many years to aquire. They then donated the collection to the County. Also on display is many articles of life in Spink County South Dakota and Redfield in particular. Redfield was settled by people brought in to the Dakota territory by the advertising of FREE land. Of course they had to homstead the land for five years to recieve title. Many came stayed for the required time and sold out or just moved on. Droughts, severe winters and wind storms drove many out.
This is the Hav-A-Rest campground on the northwest edge of Redfield. There are campsites for travel trailers and tents. The lake is formed by a dam at the edge of the campground.
