A gigantic mountain carving-in-progress of Chief Crazy Horse. Gonna be a while before it's finished but still quite a sight.
Just being in the wide open prarie with the wind and the grass and snow and listing to the quiet especialy in winter is amazing.

Of course you have to visit the big rock at Mount Rushmore. Just make sure you call ahead to make sure it isn't cleaning day. Those helicopters carrying the giant Q-tips ruin the photo ops!
An interesting park. This was one of the most desolate places in the country. It is just hilly rock and sand. There is no vegetation of any kind here.
This palace is a monument in Eastern South Dakota dedicated to the Agarian society. Most of the palace is built out of corn.
It would be disappointing to tour SD without at least spotting the funny and amazing Corn Palace of Mitchell.
Not only the Mount Rushmore in South Dakota also the Needles Eye and the entire Needles highway are well worth the time. The road is very narrow, but this makes one go slow and enjoy the views.
