The guided tour is a step back into history and our guide was very knowledable about the plantation ,the families who inhabited the home, the race horses that were bred there and the linage to present day thoroughbreds. Especially intersting to me was the Civil War era and the battle fought in front of the house. the bullet hits in the columns are still visible today.

No pictures or videos are allowed inside the mansion. You can photograph all you want anywhere else on the grounds. Also you do not touch or sit in or on any furniture as it is all period and not reproductions. Even the wooden handrails are forbidden to touch but they have installed metal ones for your use on the stairway going to the second floor.
