Waffle House is Waffle House..can't really say much more than that. Tony got the cheddar jalapeno biscuit with gravy and I also got a BLT...Tony drank milk and I drank hot tea..
    Cheap and fast...
We stop there because we can get in and out quickly

  • House of Thai: Best in Class

Although Cookeville is fortunate to have many good local restaurants, Royal House of Thai, abbreviated HOT, is one of three restaurants in Cookeville that stand out as clear winners in their type of cuisine. HOT’s food is excellent, service is friendly and prompt, and the new remodeling is attractive and clean.

HOT has outside seating now but the view is just of the parking lot.

We have always had prompt, courteous service, thought the wait staff appears be college students rather than professionals. It would probably take doubling the prices to attract career waiters.

The other two restaurants that are clear winners in their cuisine are Taiko Sushi Restaurant and World Foods Deli. The best prime rib in Cookeville is at Nick’s and the best Italian is at Mauricio’s. Father Tom’s is our favorite locals bar.

Favorite Dish: Our favorite dishes are the Pad Thai, Panang Curry, Three Flavored Grouper, House Special Eggplant, and Thai Street Noodle with shrimp, squid, scallops and mussels. They bring a spice tray so you can make the dish as hot as you care too.

  • Mauricio's Italian Restraunt: The Best Italian Food in town

by Lycentia Written Mar 26, 2009

This is the best Italian Restaurant in town. It is off the beaten path, in an old house. It's very romantic and pricey but well worth a visit for a special occasion, or all the time if you have the money. They dim the lights and have fireplaces in two rooms and 40's and 50's music. This place is has such good food I think they could make it in New York.

    Hours:
    Thurs & Fri 11am-2pm
    Tues - Sat 4pm-9pm

Make Reservations ahead of time on weekends and holiday's, they can get booked up.

This is the place my husband takes me on our anniversary every year. We love it! It's my favorite restaurant in town.

Favorite Dish: Fried Olives appetizer - These are heavenly, fried and breaded balls of cheese with diced olives in them with homade marinara to dip them in.

Anything with Alfredo. they have the best alfredo sauce, definately homade, very rich.

    The bread is awesome too

Ok anything you can get on the menu is going to be good.

Too many, so here are what we...

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Too many, so here are what we have: Goten (expensive Japanese Hibachi grill), Ryan's, Cracker Barrel, Chili's, Outback Steakhouse, O'Charley's, Steak and Shake, Subway, Smoothie King, Fazolli's, Raferty's, Logan's Road House, IHOP, Crawdaddie's, The Soup Kitchen, Mama Rosa's, China Star, Gabbiano's Gourmet Pizza, McAllister's Gourmet Deli, Bellacino's Pizza and Grinders, Royal House Thai Cuisine, El Tequilla.
Goten is the priciest, it's an hibachi grill. Mama Rosa is an actual person who started the restaurant, amazing food. Crawdaddie's is our new Cajun restaurant, Gabbiano's has live music on the weekends, the Soup Kitchen has free refils. As for price range, it ranges everywhere.

Favorite Dish: Mama Rosa's has the BEST Italian food, McAllister's has fabulous chicken salad on croissant, Bellacino's grinders are HUGE just get half of one, and Smoothie King has to be my favorite, I like everything they have. :) And I love Fazolli's unlimited breadsticks!
