DRIVE. It's easier to navigate...
DRIVE. It's easier to navigate around Knoxville than many other cities it's size. Try to avoid rush hour A.M.
Car.BOAT, if your'e lucky enough to own one or rent one like my brother did to make a very memorable sunday cruise for my family .We motored past submerged farm silos and caves and cliffs where black powder and salt-peter were mined.
Bicycle looks like a nice way to see Knoxville as well.
Interstates 40 and 75 connect...
Interstates 40 and 75 connect in Knoxville. Also available are 2 airports, one downtown and the larger airport,Mcghee Tyson, only 12 miles south of Knoxville.
We traveled on a tour bus but travel by car was not too difficult when we drove by on our wat to the Smokies.
Getting around town
TDOT is constantly building, rebuilding, the contruction of roadway ramps & modifying bypasses along the interstate thru the town of Knoxville.
So if your planning to travel thru Knoxville, I would contact TDOT first, to be sure if there is an alternate route, or to better to get an insight of travel time due to congestion and construction*

McGhee Tyson Airport
Call for flight rates and itinery, coming from out of town, may be a delay flight in non-direct schedules*
McGhee Tyson is the closest airport available unless you drive to Atlanta, Ga. or Nashville, Tn.
Traveling from the North,...
Traveling from the North, continue from I75 to I275 which will take you straight downtown, or take I640, the bypass, to I40 where almost any exit will take you to the local 'strip' - Kingston Pike.
Best way is by car... some busses are available... and a fair collection of cabs.
