Downtown Martin has several antique stores, a couple of novelty stores, a local artists' showroom, and a couple of nice gift shops. For sports enthusiasts, check out the action at the city park in spring and early summer with the activities going on with the kids and in the fall, the local high school team has football on Friday nights and the university has its games on either Thursday nights or Saturdays. Vanguard Theater at the university puts on plays each semester. The Soybean Festival in September, usually kicking off around Labor Day, brings in entertainers, a carnival, street vendors and activities for children and adults.

Their chips and salsa are always good and the white cheese dip is a big hit with most diners. The waiters are friendly and helpful and service is good. The restaurants are housed in old buildings, but that just makes the experience more authentic.
Favorite Dish: My sons and husband love the Pechuga Frita--a grilled chicken breast topped with sauteed onions and covered with their famous white cheese dip. Rice and beans are served on the side--and they always ask for the white cheese on the rice. I don't have a particular favorite but I love the vegetarian tacos--sauteed onions, peppers, tomatoes and mushrooms inside of a flour tortilla with a bit of guacamole, too.
