Right now, it's primarily, a place to get out of the bustle and heat. There are only a few shops, and Ice Cream place (very good - not cheap) and Coco and Lily's (women's clothing - modern). A couple of vendor carts hold accessories (jewelry, cellphones, etc). On the exterior are some restaurants, which I'm told include: Hooters, Encore Res. & Bar. All the other shops and restaurants are either closed or moved from the listing (2010) that I obtained.
TIP: Don't go to Peabody Place thinking "mall". You go to Peabody Place thinking "entertainment center". The only place in Memphis where you can bowl, play pool, indoor putt putt, see movies, play video games (many virtual-style), eat (Italian/Irish/Soul/American), get some ice cream or coffee, or do some LIGHT shopping including Tower Records, the largest CD store in the city. If you go with that mindset you won't be disappointed.
Peabody Place is the newest development in downtown Memphis. It's billed as having a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and bars, all under one roof. We checked it out Friday afternoon, and honestly, were a little disappointed by the shopping. There were really only a few stores that interested us, and no one really bought anything. Peabody Place is home to Jillian's, a huge restaurant-bar-arcade where everyone seems to have fun. What pleased our travel party the most, however, was Starbucks, right in the middle of the place. We went every day!
What to pay:
The stores in Peabody Place aren't cheap.
