Mountain view by miner Sightseeing in Pigeon Forge,Gatlinburg, and the Smokey Mountains
Looking through the stores and shops in the evening after the temperature had cooled a little. There was live entertainment at some of the shops.During the day we drove to Cherokee,N.C. for the day and made frequent stops on the way back to do a little sight-seeing.Other days we hit the pools and shopped in the air conditioned stores. Despite the rather negative comments by some of the reviewers Pigeon Forge is a fantastic place to visit. Shows, attractions, shopping and dining place are a plenty here in the Great Smoky Mountains. Alcohol is served in the dining facilities and while the traffic is heavy at times, anyone with a drivers license can navigate quite well through the street. There are several easy to find short cuts one street off the parkway ( east and west sides ) that will allow you to travel through without a hassle
Autumn in the Great Smoky Mountains with the color of the leaves and the brisk fall air. It just does not get any better than these. Leave a Comment

Shop-a-holics heaven...... Pigeon forge is a mecca of factory outlet malls and stores. Almost everything is along the one 4 lane road that goes down the middle of town. several country dinner theaters and music museums (after all it is Dolly Partons home). Dollywood is great for naturalists and crafters but not too good for kids looking for thrill rides (My two teenagers were 13 and 14 at the time and gave it a 'not so hot'). Go cart tracks and helicopter rides aboud and it IS in the Smokiy mountains so is great place to just kick back and enjoy. Gatlinburg is just 10 mins up the highway and is another nice 'small town' small shops and fantastic restaurants. Any and all restaurants are good and 'southern or Counry cookin' is all around as well as the serving sizes.
Everyone there felt like old friends, if you needed directions or just want to pass the time everyone has the time and seems to enjoy. Is like going home on your first trip Leave a Comment

Why it is called Smoky Mountain by miner In the morning as the air starts to warm a fog rises all across tthe mountains and hovers in the valleys making it look like the mountain is smoking.
Our last visit was one of our best and most relaxing. This was the first vacation my wife and I had taken by ourselves. We could come and go at our leisure and the view from our room of the Smokies was awesome. Leave a Comment

The Old Mill and the bakery are special.. and in winter there is not one single "European" to be seen
Whatever I expected of the US, not this...I felt in "winterwonderland" more German/Austrian than US. What I miss the most is the green Fun Trolley, dead cheap and making every "move" from A to B an adventure as such If you're not in a hurry of course)
