Wonderworks is a really cool science museum with several floors of activities. You can relive the 1989 San Francisco Quake and feel what a 5.3 quake feels like, There is an exhibit to feel the strength of hurricane winds, a bed made of nails, a gigantic rock climbing wall, see what your own shadow looks like, make your own rock video, and many more hands on activities. They also offer an Optical Illusion Art Gallery that is included in your price!
For an additional fee they offer Lazer Tag. After you tour the museum they have a dinner and show called Hoot N' Holler which lasts about 2 hours. The comedy is good and they include the audience. The food is okay but not great (So i recommend eating something before you go)
Open 365 days a year 9AM-Midnight. Prices vary depending on age and the combination package that you choose. I enjoyed it but I think that it would be even better if you have children.
Patriot Park in Pigeon Forge hosts many events throughout the year such as craft fairs and concerts. The park is situated in downtown Pigeon Forge on the Little Pigeon River behind the Old Mill Restaurant. There is a long path which can be used for walking, biking and skating. People also walk their dogs here and there are convenient stations to obtain little plastic baggies to clean up after your dog. This is a great place to let the kids get out and stretch their legs and have a picnic. Check the website to see when the park is hosting a seasonal event.
If you go behind the Old Mill restaurant, chances are you will find ducks waiting to be fed. The Old Mill General Store sells duck food for .50 cents a bag, or you can bring some bread. If you come in the Spring, you will probably get to see of bunch of cute fuzzy baby ducks.
We went to the Three Bear Gift Shop and fed the Black Bears. I think it is a must thing to do it was so much fun. Two were sleeping and a really big bear was awake and ready for me to pitch an apple bite to him, he stood up and leaned against the wall and opened his mouth and raised his paw.... and I pitched one right into his mouth. My family just howled, it was really clean and the bears looked huge and their black coats are shiny. We just loved it.
Your trip would not be complete without a visit to the Country Tonite Theatre. We went to the Country Tonite Show one day. Which we never miss on our trip to Pigeon Forge and then took in the Magic Show they have in the morning. The magician Terry is funny and amazing. The theater offers a great shows for the whole family and a great price ecpsecially if you see both shows! Make sure you buy your tickets at the same time because you can save even more money.
before you ride the Blaster Boats , get some quarters. You can squirt the people in the boats . They will try to get you , but , stand behind the unit. CAUTION...when we got in the boats, all we did was wait for people to walk by and squirted them....
I love Dollywood! Even after growing up 2 hours from Disney World, Dollywood is still a favorite. In the spring, the flowers are spectacular, and you feel so relaxed just walking into the entrance. In the winter, Dollywood's all decked out for the holidays. In the fall, of course, is peak leaf-peeping season!
Dollywood is chock-full of roller-coaster thrills (check out the new Thunderhead wooden coaster, to the LEFT as you walk into the park), entertaining shows (and I'm not a country fan), fun games and kiddie rides, tasty down-home food (enormous desserts at the Pastry Shop), and unique mountain handicraft demonstrations. My favorite place to stop and shop is at the glass-blowers. Beautiful!
One warning - if you take the coal-powered train, watch out for the flying ash! It can get in your eyes.
Since I'm from New Yoirk, I never had heard of Dollywood before and expected it to be hookey when I did. However, The theme park was a wonderful surprise. We went right after thanksgiving and the place was decked out in lights and decorations for Christmas. The place has some great entertainment shows as well as some good rides. There are also a few country all you can eat buffet places within the park, which you can fill up after your fun day. I wish they had a few more coasters, but it is a great place for the young and old to visit. Definitely a good place to take your whole family.
Surprisingly, Dollywood was very informative and fun! I thought it would be all dazzle, and all about the life of Dolly Parton, but it offers everything from historical information to roller coasters. Dolly's family also puts on cute little shows at stages along the way through the park.
In 1996 Southern Living Magazine rated Pigeon Forge as the #1 shopping spot in the South. With more than 100 outlet stores and miles of other shops and stores, there is something of interest for nearly everyone. There is a variety of entertainment for the kids and the young at heart.
You can find practically anything here. Malls, arcades, bumper cars, helicopter rides, miniature golf,Dollywood, and live entertainment.
Ice skate at the year round rink, walk around the little shops that sell taffy and stupid wooden toys, take one of those cheesy 'old time photos' they Also have a Ripleys and the Ultimate theme park which sadly I did not get to go to ..Dollywood. Great place for the traveller with no shame.
