The giant signs are enticing, and the flyer boasts 15 unique locations, but this stop was a total waste of time. The "As Seen on TV" products available in the stores are cheaper on TV or even at other locations. The souvenirs seemed cheesy and still expensive, and the discount section was like a very sad $.99 store. I was hoping to find some inexpensive "Bumpits", but they were not to be found... instead, I bought some postcards and went on my way.

Unique Suggestions: The only way to make this bearable is to NOT go.

Fun Alternatives: If you are looking for souvenirs, there are dozens up and down the parkway. Nothing here worth stopping for.

ATM charges ouch!

At Dollywood, the ATM machine charge $3.50 and then whatever you own bank charges, it could get expensive to take you money out there.

Fun Alternatives: It would be better to have all the cash you need before you arrive at Dollywood to save yourself money. Use an ATM out in town. The best way to avoid fees is to go online before your trip and find your own bank's ATM locations and use your own bank whenever possible.

The whole damn town!

I found Pigeon Forge WAY too touristy for me - if your a kid and into go karts and cotton candy then it would be great, but it just seems too much of a contrast from the natural beauty of the mountains to be in this sideshow alley like Vegas for kids strip ....

Unique Suggestions: Atlanta Bread Company - Avacado sandwich. Go into the mountains ....

Fun Alternatives: Gatlinburg - HillyBilly Golf.

Beware of the Free Tickets Offers

There will be advertisements for free tickets everywhere. Like free tickets to the Dixie Stampede or Dollywood. They will give them to you but in order to get the tickets you have to go look at a timeshare and they will pressure the heck out of you to buy a timeshare. They will talk your heads off for about 2 hours but just kepp saying NO NO NO. They give you the tickets anyways.

Unique Suggestions: Get the free tickets but just tell them no you don't want a timeshare. You have to go to the tour but YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BUY!!! inoder to get the tickets.

unless you consider all of Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg a tourist trap then there realy are not any, although you might want to take a trailer with you to haul back all the things you buy as there are sooooo many outlets there. Ypou can spend a month and never hit every one of them. shoppers paradise with a 'redneck flair 9I'm a redneck so I loved it)
