Abilene is the home of a wonderful drive-in movie theater. Now I had not been to a drive-in since first grade and my husband had never been to one, so we were not sure what to expect. Can you really get interested in a movie watching it through your windshield?
The answer is a definate yes. The sound plays through your car speakers, so you have your own personal surround sound.
The Town and Country Drive In is open year round. When we watched Pirates of the Caribbean there this summer, I thought "This is the ultimate summer experience". Some people bring lawn chairs and enjoy the perfect weather sitting beside their cars. Others lay in the back of their pickups or pop up the back door of their SUV to enjoy the film. We rolled our windows down and enjoyed the breeze in our car. (No usher will ever frown at you for putting your feet up on your own dash).
However, when we went to see the Return of the King on one of the coldest nights of the year, I decided maybe the Town and Country Drive In is also "the ultimate winter experience". We brought our blankets and pillows and snuggled up during the movie. Cozy.
The movie is priced low, and even lower for children. One price for two movies. For the schedule at the Town and Country Drive In check out their website at :
