    Sherlocks: Good times

    by Kevross85 Written May 1, 2008
A few beers had been had at this point

Sherlocks is a great place to go for a good night out. During the weekend there is a live band on normally and the band play a variety of different music which is always good. The people in sherlocks always seem friendly and I've yet to have a bad time in there and I have visited many a time.

It's not the cheapest place to drink but there is never a cover charge so that helps

The londoner: Kind of a british bar

    by Kevross85 Written Jun 20, 2008
    %CBInside the londoner

This is a bar which portrays itself as a british bar and it was as close as i cam to one in Addison. The bar itself is quite nice and serves a large variety of beers. It also serves some pretty good food at a very reasonable price with my favourite being the sausage chips and beans as it just tasted like home and having been away for 10 weeks it was great to have a bit of home in my life.

The best thing I found about this bar was that it stayed traditional; to british sports and had dart boards, pool tables and more importantly it had football on the TV. Although the football was on very early due to the time difference it was great to be able to watch it.

Dress Code: Anything goes in here and I've seen myself wear shorts and tshirt one night and shirt and jeans the following. It all depends on where your planning the night to take you.

Blackfinns: Great place to hang out

    by Kevross85 Written Jun 20, 2008
A group of ladies we met in Black finns

Black finns is a cool place to go at the weekends and is always busy. There is always a good mix of people in there and it adds to the enjoyment. We tended to come here at the start of a night but there was the odd occassion we finished here and we found it to be just as much fun. There's a DJ who plays a mixture of stuff from real pop stuff to hip hop I think it just depends on his mood.

Within Blackfinns they also serve food which is pretty good. I didn't find it anythign to shout and scream about but I ate there more than once so it wasn't bad food. Overall I think it's a good place to have a few drinks and maybe a little dance later on if the mood takes you.

Dress Code: As in the photos says strict code is strictly enforced but we found that to be only true during the weekend and we also managed to get in wearing our kilts on more than one occassion which I guess isn't normal attire for blackfinns.

WaterTower Theatre: See a Top-Notch Show

    Addison Theatre Centre

WaterTower Theatre is a community playhouse that does high-class musicals, plays, and even brings in big-name Broadway stars for private concerts. It is a not-for-profit playhouse that averages about 5 shows a year in the Addison Theatre Centre, located right by the Addison! water tower. The shows are wonderful, top of the line. This isn't just a bunch of community members singing and dancing to recordings. These are wonderful performers from all over the country!

They even have summer productions in the park for free for the community members. (See other tip.)

The last time I attended an event it was for a Christmas show with Betty Buckley, Tony-award winner. The theatre is so intimate and small that it was really a treasure. My aunt worked for her dressing room while doing Sunset Boulevard so I was so excited that our seats were so close. Definitely worth the $50/ticket price!

Tickets can range from $10-100 depending on the performance or special event. They have a wide array of events depending on the time of year you'll be visiting.

Dress Code: There are a variety of dress codes but jeans and a button down shirt would be ok for men, although most are in a sports jacket for nice performances. Women wear Sunday dress, or typical theatre dress, (nice slacks, dresses, etc).
