Visit the Air Show
Air Shows have always drawn my husband and grandson; they marvel at the stunts and drool over the airplanes.
I joined them on a recent trip to the Cavanaugh Flight Museum for this event and now see what all the excitement is about.
Vintage planes were polished up and gleaming on the runway, filling the hangers and soaring over the cloud strewn sky. Former navigators were on hand to tell of their past adventures, to display pictures of their stint or to dispense historical information.
Visitors were eager to sign up for flights that day, but the rides were expensive. I attempted to talk my husband into reserving a seat on one, but he thought the price was too much. Maybe one day he'll do it.
At the time of the air show, only a single reservation was available and that was on Doolittle Raiders (see travelogue)--the cost was over $300.00.
FYI: Warbird Rides: $175.00 to fly 30 minutes in a WWII N2S4 Stearman; $250.00 for a half hour's ride in an AT-6 Texan which flew in WWII and Korea. Passengers must be at least 18 years old to participate.Related to:

Take a ride in a Warbird
There are rides you can take on two distinctive warbirds. The N2S-4 Stearman and the AT-6 Texan. The museum maintains and flies an extensive collection of aircraft and also houses artwork and artifacts spanning the from World War I through the Vietnam conflict.

WaterTower Theatre is a community playhouse that does high-class musicals, plays, and even brings in big-name Broadway stars for private concerts. It is a not-for-profit playhouse that averages about 5 shows a year in the Addison Theatre Centre, located right by the Addison! water tower. The shows are wonderful, top of the line. This isn't just a bunch of community members singing and dancing to recordings. These are wonderful performers from all over the country!
They even have summer productions in the park for free for the community members. (See other tip.)
The last time I attended an event it was for a Christmas show with Betty Buckley, Tony-award winner. The theatre is so intimate and small that it was really a treasure. My aunt worked for her dressing room while doing Sunset Boulevard so I was so excited that our seats were so close. Definitely worth the $50/ticket price!
Tickets can range from $10-100 depending on the performance or special event. They have a wide array of events depending on the time of year you'll be visiting.Related to:
