TopGolf in Allen is a great location to host friends and family in a very relaxed and fun manner. It incorporates the fun of hitting a golf ball with the video game type arcade experience that allows for people of all skills and ages to compete against one another, or for the non-golfers to come and hang out.
Since Allen is the home to many families, one of the best things to do in town is enjoy the excellent Sports Association that the kids can be a member of many teams.
Anna, my four year old has a great time playing soccer and they have team sports for boys and girls from 4 years old all the way to adult leagues.
Spotlight Theatre is a hidden gem in Allen, Texas. The theatre presents full run plays, musicals, late-night comedy, variety shows, live musica and more.
The plays are about the best "off broadway" as you will find. A great evening of entertainment.
The theatre is all black...ceiling, floor, walls. All the attention is directed to the stage. Seating is extremely comfortable at tables....not crowded rows. There isn't a bad seat in the house as this is a very intimate theatre. It seats around 150 people. The stage is huge and the shows have terrific sets.
The staff is very friendly. The best part is you "come as you are"....you can wear a tux or jeans and sneakers....either way you will fit in and be comfortable. You can go from the lake to the theatre and be fine.
One of the best parts is that after the show, the entire cast comes down from the stage and greats the audience and thanks them for coming. Great customer appreciation.
So, if you are in Allen, Texas and looking for something to do and a great night of entertainment, go to Spotlight Theatre. Tickets run about $20 a piece, but you can find deals for 2 for 1. Have Fun!
Well, she had to perfect all angles on the balancing beam, floor excercises etc...... so I try with my photography..... =0)
She is the best in the whole wide world now.....so I wanted to see her, I sat watching her on tv while she performed in the Olympics.
Here is the last picture left on my roll and guess who did not bring extra rolls?
Well, I had no idea what a Olympic celebration would be like, but I will know next time.
There are many here....Runners, Kayakers, Swimmers all won the Gold.
Not to forget Lance Armstrong who won the "Tour de France" for the 6th time. He is a Texan also.
I wait nearby the phone for the next party!!
STAY TUNED! See Texas ain't that bad after all is it?? ;o)
Oh, and this pic is with her Olympic coach from Kazastan........GO CARLY!
She is the MOST browsed site on yahoo and we sure are proud, I was sooooooooo glad to see her in person.
She is not arrogant in the least bit, I just tried to catch her lifting up her Gold Medals for a picture.
I guess I need more practice, but then again I was running along the parade route.
Maybe I will get a job as a papparazi yet?? There is another gentleman taking a nice photo also.
Hymmm.......how much does it pay??
How many did she win?
She had 3 medals. 2 Gold and 1 silver I believe. I was trying to get a closer look at them.
I have never seen one up close, even after going to Greece and standing in the Olympic stadium.
Here she comes in that convertible Cadillac!!
Fireman, police guarded her, I am not sure why?
One thing I do know is she will be a STAR, she is already on the Wheaties cereal box cover.
She was also on Jay Leno, David Letterman and the MTV awards.
Wow, so much for a 16 year old!!
Of course I am right in front - first to see Carly, but this longgggggggggg band keeps playing and playing and playing.
I was happy for her and the support of the city to honor her with a parade and there is more, a celebration in the high school to follow.
This is the hometown celebration for Carly Patterson.
She won the womens all around Gymnast, which the other only record from 20 years ago was Mary Lou Retton, who was also from Texas.
Here is the start of the parade which was at 10 am. September 4, 2004.
There were dignitaries, citizens, NBC, ABC, politicians from the Senate and Congressmen. VISA mastercard representative gave Carly her first GOLD mastercard. As he said, his wife says it is WORTH GOLD? hehe
This was my last shot of her before the indoor celebration started.
The streets of the Allen Station Park were lined with people, all on their way to the gymnasiam.
Yes I am still waiting with thousands to see her ....
There is a nice BIG red white and blue sign honoring the Gold Medalist that the band is holding.
You have to enlarge the pic to see it better.
Before you eat your Wheaties.......see the real thing in Allen TX. ;o)
What a role model for children, her training facility is at Plano Texas which is the city next to Allen Texas.
I think Carly thought I was the papparazi, well there sure was a guy who was........get ready for stardom young girl.
Has she even had her first sweet 16 kiss yet??
And closer, here she is, Allen's Golden Girl.
The city named Sept 4 as "Carly Patterson" day on the city records.
