Austin is not only a great haunt for musicians, but also a thriving centre of filmmakers: Roberto “Desperado” Rodriguez as well as Richard “Slackers” Linklater are some of the local talent. Films like John Travolta’s “Michael” or “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape” were all shot in Austin. Harry Knowles from Ain’t It Cool fame is an Austin resident, and so is Sandra Bullock.
It therefore comes as no surprise that Austin also houses one of the whackiest cinemas there is: The Alamo Draft House is a haven for fans of the bizarre, the weird and eclectic. Whether you’re into Hongkong movies, gore, Eurotrash… You name it, they got it on a nightly changing schedule. Occasionally they even run an entire 24-hour movie marathon!
Food and drink is also served, so what more do you need?
This old movie theater serves drinks and dinner during the flick! Shows old movies, art films and campy classics! Great date place or a fun place to go with a small group.
Dress Code: shoes and shirt probably required, but basically ANYTHING goes
