    Waterfall in Texas?

by StrayKat Written Aug 13, 2004 4 reviews

Hamilton Pools! This is the place to enjoy a nice waterfall out in seclusion. It's a great day getaway.

Tip: Call in advance to make sure the area is not closed due to heavy rains from the days before or any other reasons.

(Located on Hamilton Pool Road, this 232-acre preserve is good for hiking, picnicking, and of course swimming.)

    Swimming holes

by contadina Written Jun 30, 2003 12 reviews

There are many great places in the Barton Creek Greenbelt to hang out, people watch, or go for a swim on the hot sunny days in central Texas. If you go down near Mopac and 360 you can find an entrance with a path down to the water. It's about a 10 minute hike in whatever direction you go.

    Schlitterbahn

    by achoo59 Updated Aug 31, 2003 2 reviews

The Schlitterbahn (German for 'slippery road') is a waterpark in the town of New Braunfels, about a 45 minute drive south of Austin. There are plenty of hot summer days in Austin from May through September, and Schlitterbahn is a great place to cool off.

In 2003, the park was ranked the best waterpark in America by the Travel Channel. Schlitterbahn features all sorts of wave pools, slides, and tubing courses. One thing that makes it very unique is that the park is integrated with the cold, spring-fed Comal River that runs directly next to the park.

Don't forget to get some good German food while in New Braunfels. The whole town was settled by German immigrants in the 19th century.

The houses along the lake were amazing. Just being able to look down into a peep of them was really amazing.

    The Lakes

There are some beautiful lakes close to Austin where they often hold concerts (The Backyard) Morissey and my favourite David Bowie have performed here.
