Every Summer, there is always someone you know, or someone you know who knows someone else, who will throw a party on a party barge out at Lake Travis.
The party barge usually ends up at Devil's Cove where it will dock for hours, and you can swim, drink, and mingle around with other folks who got there in other party barges, or their own private boats, or jetskis. It's like being in bars/clubs, except you're in a body of water.
It's one of the local favorites to hit the lakes, especially since Central Texas is so landlocked and the nearest beach is really not that enticing at all.
Although the "lakes" in Austin really isn't a lake. It's actually parts of the Colorado River which had been damned up. Still, we have fun, even when it can get way too hot outside. Just gotta remember lots and lots and lots of sunblock and water.
Lake Travis is one of the 7 lakes in the Highland Lake Chain, which is also the Lower Colorado River. (This is the end of the historical documentation).
From this point on, I will be discussing things that pertain to being single in Austin.... most importantly, where to find the other singles in Austin.
Give your best boat pickup line on Lake Travis, in Devil's Cove (across from Carlos and Charlies) on any of the major event weekends. There are thousands of boats that pull in there on weekends, and it is nothing but a pure party.
The restaurant's slew of decks look down on the southeastern end of Lake Travis. Fervent sightseers can use the mounted telescopes to get close-ups of Mansfield Dam, to the left, or boaters and Hippie Hollow to the right. Hippie Hollow is the nudist beach in Austin.
