Unlike taxies & buses, these guys don't have a centralized location from which they are dispatched from. However, just like a taxi they are nearly impossible to flag down. Based upon my observations, you pretty much have to throw yourself in front of them in order to get them to stop. The Dillos run through downtown Austin and they're free so it's a great way to easily get from one attraction to another. The different routes are color-coded so all you need to do is look for a colored armadillo on the bus stops! By plane... Texas is no place you want to drive through. There is nothing to look at.
It's very boring, but if you're on a budget, of course, driving is most sensible, but make
sure you're well rested, because there will be nothing to keep you awake.
Like i said in the warnings, walking is best or taxis because downtown Austin during
South by Southwest is very scary. People pretty much ignore basic driving laws &
