Easy's Tapas & Martinis: Relax with fascinating locals

    by der_geograf Updated Apr 4, 2011

A best-kept Beaumont secret that is quickly becoming no longer a secret! This combination lunch and evening spot is a great place to relax. Tucked into the heart of Old Town Beaumont, Easy's Tapas & Martinis is a large renovated house of the typical early 20th century architecture that is so prevalent in this area of town, which close to 100 years ago was the upscale suburbs of young Beaumont. The inside of the house has tables for dinner seating, a bar and lounge area and a recently added enclosed, covered porch complete with a fire pit, additional seating, a wide-screen television set and a small waterfall. It's the perfect place for settling down with friends or making new ones, and don't be surprised if you bump into a city official or two during the evening as Easy's attracts everyone from college students to the more mature crowd. GREAT food--my favorite is the brandied chicken livers dish.

Dress Code: I'm not sure if it is a requirement, but nice, respectable clothing is more or less the norm here, although you see a wide range of casual to formal wear.

Suga's Deep South Cuisine and Jazz Bar: Classy downtown night spot

    by der_geograf Updated Dec 22, 2008

Suga's has quickly become THE place for social gatherings, private parties and just after-work relaxation for Beaumonters. Created from a renovated early 20th-century brick building in downtown Beaumont, Suga's has beautiful interior decorations with ample seating and an atmosphere that is great for business meetings, family outings and dates and other special occasions. The second level has room for medium-sized meetings or conferences complete with an open bar and personal meal service. Suga's is known for its atmosphere and its Southern-themed dishes. Word of warning to those traveling on a budget--drinks and meals at Suga's are priced well above average for the area.

Dress Code: I am not sure there is a dress code, but every time I have gone to Suga's for work-related purposes I have been dressed in a tie, maybe with a coat, and everyone else I saw was dressed nice. I have never seen anyone in shorts, sandals or casual summer wear. I don't think they'll kick you out of the restaurant, but know that it is typically considered one of the more upscale restaurants in Beaumont, so "get all dolled up" as we say in the South. In other words, dress accordingly (it's totally worth it!).

Cactus Canyon: See Cowboys in Action

    by syb0rz Written May 26, 2006
    Google + Cowboys Dancing

The cowboys you meet in this bar are the fake ones. They don't live on farms or anything, they just wear big belt buckles and cowboy hats. But, you can see them dance, and perhaps dance with them if you like. They play half country and half dance music.

    Dress Code: No open-toed shoes.

    Antone's: Rock and Blues

    Antone's in Beaumont

Not the greatest live music venue, but the main one in Beaumont. Any given Friday or Saturday there is usually a good show going on.

    Dress Code: No open-toed shoes.

Vortex: Independant Music and World Beers

    by syb0rz Written May 21, 2006
My friend's band Lionheart at Vortex

The best place to hang out in the whole city. There are many many imported world beers here and usually some good regional indie music on the weekends.

    Dress Code: None.
