Canoes and other small boats are available to rent at the boat pier at Caddo Lake St. Park. The prices depend upon how long you want to use the canoe. I just did it for an hour, but it was worth it. It gives you enough time to paddle around the inlet and the riverway near the park. I was looking for alligators but no luck...they must have been busy. It's a good way to see the water, the trees, the homes along the banks...and it's peaceful too...except for when motorboats come speeding by...the waves they send out make for a bumpy ride. You can also take a tour of the area on a tour boat that leaves from the boat rental place.

We took one of their tours. We had it all to ourselves and it was fabulous. The weather couldn't have been more perfect. Each tour lasts anywhere between 1.5 and 2 hours. You can visit several areas of the lake, but really its so big that you barely touch the main area of the lake. All the areas have delightfully original names. Adult rates are $15, kids 6 and under are $7.50 and under 2 are free. they also offer specialised tours for professional photographers. Very accommodating and we hope to take other tours with them when back over that way.
There is an alternative company which operates a double decker steamboat on the lake.
