    Gig 'em Aggies

by VeronicaG Updated Jun 9, 2010

As many college and universities do, Texas A&M has quite a few traditions to uphold each year.

Some traditions center on remembering the Aggie family:

Silver Taps-a regular memorial service held as a final tribute to an Aggie student

Muster-an annual service held worldwide in remembrance of Aggies

Bonfire Memorial-A memorial for those Aggie students whose lives were lost at the 1999 Bonfire collapse

    Others highlight the Aggie Spirit:

Big Event-a student-run project which is the largest in the nation whose purpose is to serve the local community

Maroon Out-mass display of maroon pride during Aggie football games

    Okay, here's some more...

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Okay, here's some more craziness...Reveille is the most revered dog on campus. Company E-2 has the privilege of taking care of Reveille. If she is sleeping on a cadet's bed, that cadet must sleep on the floor. Cadets address Reveille as 'Miss Rev, ma'am.' If she is in class and barks while the professor is teaching, the class is to be immediately dismissed. (Excerpt taken from Reveille Tradition)

    My biggest tip for non-Aggies...

My biggest tip for non-Aggies is that if you don't bleed maroon-you are in the major minority here and don't mention it to anyone. They will raise their eyebrows and look down on you like you ran over their favorite pet. Their traditions are complicated, deep, and numerous (and a little scary). They even have a Traditions Council!

While at Texas A&M do not walk...

    by Always7696 Written Aug 25, 2002

While at Texas A&M do not walk on the grass around the Memorial Student Center (MSC). This is in honor of all the Aggies who gave their lives while fighting in World War II. Some extend that to not walk on the grass around any building at Texas A&M. Also, please remove your hats and caps while inside the MSC to show respect.
