Dallas offers famous Texas blue skies, bright sunshine and clean fresh air – well almost. Hot spells do occur and they are HOT - up to 44C. August is usually the worst month for heat. Unfortunately if you are in the major cities, you will have the bad pollution days when it is hot as well and high allergy days.

The average January temperature being 13C. Be prepared for ice and the very rare appearance of snow as well.. usually only a day!.

Its true, Dallas is right in what we call "tornado alley". Make sure that if youre visiting during tornado season (April-May especially) that you are aware of where to go in case of emergency. Generally interior rooms with no windows are good, some suggest bathrooms because of the pluming (acting as protective barrier) inside the walls, or IN the bathtub with a mattress pulled over you. Interior closets are good, especially if built under a sturdy staircase. Unfortunately, the safest place would be in an underground basement, however, due to the changes in our soil year round, basements are not built in texas homes. Also, be advised that being in your car is not safe during a tornado. If outdoors, lie flat in a ditch...I know it sounds insane, but thats what they say! Let me know if it works....
