Deep Ellum is what it is, and it's better than it was. Downtown is nice, Uptown is better, both you can get to from the train. Lower Greenville has become a great place to get robbed I've been avoiding the place. Addison is nice but if you are not traveling with your own car, and a designated driver, it's about as much fun as the hotel lobby.
Most sporting events happen in the burbs, and are a bit of a drive. MOST sporting events are a lot of fun. We like sports, we like to have fun, we like to have a drink or two and get a little silly. It's usually a pretty good mix. All major sporting events will cut you off early enough that you are likely to sober up before leaving. (Ther're good eggs)
Dress Code: My advice is this: look sexy and everything will go your way. (Try not to look like your trying to sell it though... ) Off the top of my head I can't think of anyplace in Dallas or DFW metroplex that this rule doesn't generally apply to, from the Girls Rollerderby in Mesquite to the Top of the Globe to Sundance Square to Restaurant Row to the dance halls on 35 and south, pretty much if you look hot, things will go your way.
I wouldn't sacrafice too much function for form during the day though, at least not in the summer. The heat is just too intense.
So after a week (months/years) of sitting at bars and searching for cute girls/guys at the clubs it might get kinda old. Or you might just want something a bit more engaging. Well, at the AMF Bowling Lanes in Lewisville Friday and Saturday night bowling becomes one big dance club. Xtreme (Cosmic/Midnight) Bowling usually starts later, around 10pm. They turn down the lights, have neon pins, and jam some music. It is a blast with friends. You can dance, drink, and meet other people who are having just as much fun as you are. And if you're not having one of those "on" nights you can still have fun bowling.
The best part? They have a full bar!!! You can see how nice (and big) the drinks are in my pictures! They also have food, arcade, pool tables, and a mini sports bar-type area.
They have great, extended hours so you can catch a game or two at any hour :) If you do decide to go on a week night please call in advance because they do have leagues that will take up most lanes. Great family idea!
Friday/Saturday 9am-2am (yes, that's right 2am!)
Dress Code: MAKE SURE TO HAVE SOCKS!!
Aside from the areas already mentioned (West End, Deep Ellum, Greenville), another good spot is Addison. There are several bars and restaurants. One place (I can't recall the name), has a nice lounge on one side with chairs and bookcases and the like, and on the other has a stage for bands with a seating area that can fit many folks.
Country Club 2000.
Many gentelmans Clubs.
Market area, Jazz bars live music
I havent seen that much gentelmen club in the same town. Holly crow.
Dress Code: many of them ask for dress code, but there are some places you can join with a casual dress, you just pay the cover charge 20$ and you bring your own drink.
