Oak Lawn and Cedar Springs: Gay and Lesbian Clubs

    by elise_crash Updated Feb 9, 2003

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Cedar Springs (a streetname), located about 7 to 10 minutes from downtown (driving) is the main strip of gay and lesbian clubs. You can just ask any cab driver to take you to the Oak Lawn and Cedar Springs area, and you can find your way from there! The main lesbian bar is called Sue Ellens. Men, pretty much anywhere besides that will be for you! The big club down there, though, is called the Village. There is also a good straight crowd that can be found down there as well, so don't be put off if you are not attracted to people of the same sex! It's a fun and VERY relaxed place to hang out! Enjoy!

Dress Code: Little to nothing! Just kidding! Pretty much anything you want to wear is fine for most of the clubs. Also, see the website listed below for info on the clubs in this area.

The Village Station: Gay Night Spots

    by Carrie27 Written Jul 17, 2003

Known to locals as "The Village" this is the premier spot for dancing in an area called Oaklawn (which is the gay area of town). There is a balcony and back patio and deck. The music is very dancy and Wednesday nights are "straight night" though you will usually find a very mixed crowd of openminded people whenever you go.

Dress Code: No dress code really, but if you are on the prowl I would suggest dressing up to look your sexiest!

Sue Ellen's: More Gay Night Spots (this one's for the ladies)

    by Carrie27 Updated Jul 17, 2003

Sue Ellen's is the best lesbian bar in town, as well as one of the only lesbian bars in town (remember, this is the deep south). There is drinking and dancing and live music on occasion. Located right next to The Village Station in Oak Lawn.

Dress Code: No dress code (though sometimes I know we all wish there were).
