WEST END, Dallas
Live music in the West End area. There is an outdoor courtyard with a stage at one end for performers during the summer.
There are also several bars and a Nice Day Cafe. One cover charge (around $8) gets you into eight touristy clubs and five live venues.
Note : Dallas Alley is now closed (2007)
If you're expecting to see big hats, steel guitars and fiddles, you will find them here but Dallas also sings the blues, folk, jazz, rock and roll and heavy metal. There are comedy clubs, piano bars and nightclubs. The West End is a great place to hang out, sit outside, have a drink and listen to the orchestra of different sounds from the various bars. If you are looking for Planet Hollywood, its now closed.
This is Dallas Alley at the West End downtown Dallas.
For dancin', boppin' or playin':
I recommend 'Alley Cats' which has dueling pianos, sing-along bar, 'Alley Oops' is a sports bar, 'Froggy Bottom' is a cozy bar featuring original rock and rhythm and blues.
There are many concerts performed here free of charge from VERY FAMOUS bands~
This area has a collection of mostly chain restaurants and bars - (see the website for a listing) I'm usually not a big fan of chains, but this was a fun area because of the variety and so much activity, everyone was having a good time.

We did not do a lot at night in Dallas. I just want to say we parked our car close to down town in an area called 'West End'. There were lots of restaurants and bars there. Looked like fun area to visit in evenings. During early morning hours there were also lots of parking spaces there before the bars and restaurants opened for the day.
