The pizza here is awesome! I especially love the buffet on the weekends when you can taste the variety of pizza they have. One of the best things about this place is they serve beer! That way, if you're with the kids you can let them have fun while also enjoying yourself a bit :) But not too much!!

The ambience is very laid back. They have a few video games for the kids. They have nice, big televisions for the sports. The decor is very fun.

*This is a chain of places so be sure to call or check the website for the one nearest where you are going to be!

**FYI, I took the pictures really late on a Friday night right before they closed ...

Favorite Dish: You have to try the pepperoni rolls! They are delicious!!!

Grand Lux Cafe: A Grand Time at The Grand Lux Cafe

This is one of our favorite restaurants in Dallas, and for a good reason. They have changed their decor since our last visit earlier this year, however it still has the art deco and eclectic graphic decor with columns that are topped with artwork inspired by what has to be Byzantine iconography, quite unique.

My favorite dish is the fish and chips entree with peanut coleslaw. It is melt in your mouth delicious. The food portions are absolutely huge! You will not be able to finish your meal.

Topping off the meal, I would recommend the French Beignets, they are served with three sauces, chocolate, cream and a seasonal berry. It is delicious and just how Cafe d'Monde makes them in New Orleans.

The service is second to none, you will want to tip 20% not because you feel you have to, but because you want to.

Paciugo: Italian Gelato Renaissance

The place is very nice, very modern & clean. They serve not only Gelato, but also coffee, coffee with icecream, and gelato mixed with other drinks. And oh, they also serve pizza.

There was not too many people there because it was a Sunday afternoon when we came. The service was good. You could try as much as you want before you decided to buy which gelato you want. And there are LOTS of choices, from regular choclate & vanilla, to mango & kiwi. You could order up to 3 flavors per cup. I ordered the pistachio & hazelnut. Great combo. One of the best pistachio gelato i've ever tasted.

Favorite Dish: Pistachio

Celebration: Homestyle Dining in Dallas

Celebration
1 more image

A friend and I drove to a garden shop in the Dallas area, so that she could finalize her purchase of a fountain for her backyard. Once that business was taken care of, we enjoyed lunch at Celebration.

I was told that Celebration has been around since the 70's. The restaurant is a former house which has been extended in order to add more dining space. The outside is nothing much, but the inside has some nice intimate-sized rooms for pleasant conversation.

As often happens, I seem to be in the midst of a meal pattern I order again and again. I select chicken salad with assorted fruit. A warm basket of breads is brought to the table: herbed corn bread, mini blueberry muffins and yeast rolls. They were so full of flavor!

I've been encouraged to bring my husband to one of Celebration's homestyle dinners. The restaurant gives 'seconds' on meals--doesn't this only happen at Grandma's house? Plus, I've been told that the perfect ending to your dinner is a slice of their homemade pie or cobbler.

Small patios on the front or side of the building are available should you chose to dine outdoors. A takeout market next door carries everything from the menu and can be ordered ahead for pickup.

Fogo de Chão: The Gaucho way of preparing meat in Dallas!
lonestar_philomath profile photo
lonestar_philomath 573 reviews

The times I have gone, Fogo de Chão servers were always pampering the customers. Their salad bar is always great. The meat selections and preparation excellent. Clean white table cloth, spotless silverware, and glasses.

They even have a wine list, but I do not drink and drive.

Their dinners are expensive (I consider it worth it) however they do offer brunches

Favorite Dish: Meat: Lamb chops
Veges: Asparagus, Mushrooms, specialty salads

Most restaurants in Dallas: Dallas Eating Practices

The mayors of Texas are cracking down on smoking in public places. Therefore, if you are a smoker you will have to be very careful where you light up when in restaurants. Make sure to ask before you are seated if smoking is available. Most restuarants in the actual city will not permit it anywhere in the restaurant.

Legislators and lobbyists are currently fighting smokers to not be allowed close to 100 feet from any building entrance. So, just be careful, and make sure to be observative. If someone approaches you to put our your cigarette just follow the rules and you'll be fine.

Please know, this is effective in bars, too. Yes, there are still bars you can smoke inside but it depends on the owner's decision. So, if it's important to you, call ahead.

Favorite Dish: None of the big chains allow smoking so you might have to go with smaller bars to find a place to smoke, drink, and eat.

Pappasito's Cantina: Mediocre Tex Mex
msbrandysue profile photo

3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

msbrandysue 739 reviews

I'm a bit weary of this place. I personally feel that the prices do not reflect the taste. However, I'm pretty picky. Dallas offers a lot of great mexican food. I wouldn't consider this one at the top of the list, regardless of the popularity. However, a lot of people in Houston prefer Pappacito's. I haven't found anything I like here. The margarita's aren't that good. The atmosphere is not that good. Why am I paying extra to sit in a lawn seat?? No waitor has ever given flour tortillas although they make them right in front of you. It just has always been a let down. Anytime I actually want to try something I get disappointed even more. If you want to try it, no one's gonna stop you. But if I were you I'd find something else.

Sun -Thurs: 11:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Fri - Sat: 11:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.

Picture coming soon...

Favorite Dish: I usually just stay with the queso and flautas. Not comparable to other places but I just don't understand what all the hype is about. I can't find anything I enjoy that much.

The Cheesecake Factory: Best Food Around
msbrandysue profile photo

3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

msbrandysue 739 reviews

The Cheesecake Factory encompasses it all. It has a fun atmosphere, great bar, chic style, nice waiters, great food, and even better dessert. When you hear the name Cheesecake Factory you may think it's only dessert. Oh my goodness, do not make that mistake! The food is absolutely wonderful. The 27 page menu offers variety upon variety. Anything you want is here. Any type of food is available.

And, yes, you have to have some cheesecake. I believe they have over 50 types of cheesecakes with other desserts including cakes and pies.

Not in the mood to sit in a nice dining area? Take some to go! You can order any of the food and dessert to go if you would rather relax in your room.

Do not miss this place! It's a great date place, as well, if you want a special evening.

Again, this is a franchise so there are many restaurants in the area. Check out the store locator on the website to find the one closest to you. However, in Dallas I prefer to make the drive to Frisco (Northeast part of Dallas). The restaurant is inside of the biggest malls in Dallas which includes a Dave and Busters and AMC theatre. It's a great time to get all your shopping done, catch a movie, and a great meal. Although it's very busy at Christmas time I always make a point to go. If you have to wait for a table make sure to go into Barnes and Noble next door and find a book!

Monday - Thursday 11:00 am - 11:00 pm
Friday & Saturday 11:00 am - 12:30 am
Sunday 10:00 am - 10:00 pm

Picture coming soon...

Favorite Dish: The best appetizer is the avacado eggrolls. I would either order these as a meal, though, or share them with others.
My favorite entree is the spicy chicken nachos (which is actually under the 5 page appetizer menu).
All the cheesecakes are unbelievable!
If you want to order drinks I enjoyed the Mai Tai, and the Godiva Chocolate Martini is strong!
