Nana grill is a bit pricey so it's one of those 'special occassion' places. Sitting atop the Anatole Hotel, always ask for a window seat. From there, you have a gorgeous view of various parts of Dallas. The staff make you feel like you're the only ones there and they go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your meal. Two Guys from Italy. The Pelican Steakhouse. Red Bryan's bar-b-que. Two guys from Italy is very comfortable with lots of plants growing along the walls and across the ceiling. Beautiful and really romantic atmosphere. They have excellent italian food of all varieties, like I've never tasted anywhere before. The Pelican is pretty high class. Red Bryan's is really casual and comfortable. Prices vary but are reasonable.
Mostaccoli at Two Guys from Italy, Filet Mignon from the Pelican, and the barbeque sandwich basket from Red Bryan's. Abacus is billed as contemporary global cuisine and might be considered neuvo American. The feel when you walk in the door is a modern feel that, when you look more closely, could reflect more of the clean lines and muted colours of the modern Arts and Crafts period. The dining room is open yet cozy in the way the booths and tables are arranged. For most of the evening I didn't know there was anyone else in the restaurant even though we were not the only table it sure felt intimate and comfortable. Our service was fabulous and our server did a great job at coming to the table at just the right time. She was knowledeable and allowed us to pick and choose whatever we wanted.
The food at Abacus was incredible. I have to rate it one of the top 3 meals I've had in my life. Recognize that this includes some pre-Katrina New Orleans meals at places like Nola's, Gautreau's, Galatoire's, & Brennan's. Everything was spot-on and had great flavour, presentation and concepts.

A top-drawer, high-dollar dining experience with chef Kent Rathbun in the open kitchen. It's considered casual, compared to much of Dallas' high-end dining, but it's very chic.
It's all good -- but you'll pay the price Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: 4511 McKinney, 214-559-3111

'It's like being in Austin without having to drive through Waco' is the slogan. And it's true. The spacious, airy, Deep Ellum hangout has Texas tunes playing and a casual ambience.

I went into two places while in Dallas and both times they brought up your main meal 5 mins after bringing out your starter . The whole table is full and gives the idea that they want you out. Leave a Comment Theme: AmericanAddress: Dallas

This Asian restaurant offers a hip design consisting of two primary colors--white and mint green. Sometimes, this isn't a good thing (i.e. they spent more on appearance than on quality food), but their food more than made up for it. I recommend this place for its trendyness and good soups and teas. Also, Mondays and Tuesdays are $1 Sushi nights ($10, minimum).
I highly recommend their Tom Yum Soup; it's the best Tom Yum Soup I've had to date (in Dallas). I don't recommend their Tom Kha Soup because it's not sour enough. For the main course, I had Thai Basil Noodles and a Thai Ice Tea. If you add seafood to any dish, then just get shrimp. I ordered shrimp and scallops and received plenty of shrimp but only one big scallop (hello, it was plural on the menu--"scallops"). Well, this place definitely qualifies as a "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant. When we went, it was completely dead, and the staff was fiesty. The interior needed a serious makeover. Oddly enough, there was an arcade room near the back area. Anyway, I wouldn't recommend this "Ba Le" chain if you want good Vietnamese food--go to the Arlington "Ba Le" chain which is *much* bigger, friendlier, and better quality of food.
Banh Mi Ga (Chicken Sandwich). It was actually pretty tasty, but the color of the meat threw me off at first (they dyed it red); I thought it was pork. In all honesty, the sandwich wasn't half bad, but very different from the normal Banh Mi Ga I eat.
