Just north of downtown is the American Airlines Center. It is the venue that holds the Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Stars and Dallas Desperados. It also holds a bunch of big name concerts and children's activities (Circus, ... on Ice, etc.). If you are coming into town you might check out their calendar and pick a show/event. It has great facilities and I'm sure you'll love it.
There are about 5,300 parking spaces available for American Airlines Center guests. The majority of these parking spaces are located within 2 blocks of American Airlines Center. In addition, there are over 3,000 parking spaces to the south and east of American Airlines Center within easy walking distance.
Parking lots open 3 hours prior to the start of each event and remain open until 2 hours after the end of each event. These parking spaces usually cost money that you will purchase while buying your concert/sport tickets. If you would prefer a cheaper route there is the public transportation subway that you can look into. I always park, though, sorry! American Airlines Center opened in July 28 2001 with a large ceremony in the morning and an Eagles concert at night. The Center is 840,000sqft and is part of the master planned Victory District, adjacent to the West End and two major highways. It has now become home to the Dallas Stars and the Dallas Mavericks.
Other than sporting events, the will hold many concerts and other events like Barnum & Bailey Circus, Ringling Brother, Disney on Ice and the Harlem Globetrotters. The complex seats 19,200 for basketball, 18,000 for hockey and 20,000 for other events.
Their website reports that the Center has ”more toilets per capita than any other sports and entertainment venue in the country. With more than a 3:1 ratio of women's vs. men's toilets, it exceeds the requirements of the Texas 'Potty Parity' law.” Works for me.

This is where The Dallas Stars and the Dallas Mavericks play. This is a new kind of sports arena it has various resteraunts, clubs, and full service seating. It holds 20-30 thousnad people depending on the occasion.Besides the regular basket ball court it has a seperate practice court within the building. The entiere family can enjoy going to see two of the cities professional sports teams.
