The King Tut Exhibit by VeronicaG The Dallas Museum of Art is located in a blocky concrete building in downtown Dallas. I would never have imagined how massive it was just from viewing it from the outside. (October 2008) The world of the Egyptians was revealed to us as we toured 'Tutankhamun And The Golden Age Of The Pharaohs' exhibit which runs from October 3, 2008 to May 17, 2009. Gold jewelry, gilded boxes, beautiful statuary and decorated furniture all come from King Tut or his family...and fascinating to see! (Feb. 2008) allowed us to view the exhibit of J.M.W. Turner, an artist from Great Britain, who was the forerunner of the Impressionist movement. We marveled at his churning, realistic paintings of the sea and light-filled landscapes. As we toured the gallery, flutists serenaded visitors by playing music from the 18th and 19th centuries. An impressive permanent collection from the following cultures is contained here: African American Ancient Mediterranean Asian Contemporary Decorative Arts European Pacific Islands Provenance-history of ownership researched Reves Collection (impressionist, post-impressionist, modern, decorative arts) I was surprised to see a block of marble from King Nebuchadnezzer's reign describing a tower which is said to have been the Tower of Babel. Public tours are free and scheduled every Saturday and Sunday at 2pm. Free admission on Thursday evenings from 5pm-9pm and first Tuesday of each month. Late Night At The Museum, is held on the third Friday of each month until midnight. $10 or less includes performances, concerts, readings, film screenings, tours, family projects and Starbuck Coffee tastings with complimentary coffee offered. When we've gone, the music performances were diverse and engaging! Regular admission is $10 for adults; $7 for seniors 65 and up; $5 for students with ID's and no charge for children under 12. Hours are Tuesday-Wednesday 11 am-5pm; Thursday 11 am-9pm; Friday-Sunday 11 am-5 pm. The museum is closed on New Year's Day, Christmas and Thanksgiving.

sculpture outside of dma by btex The DMA is a very good museum. But, I don't know that much about art, so you should check out their web-site. I've been there several times. It has exhibits from many different eras and countries: ancient mediterranean, africa, asia, contempory art, etc.... I've seen a few exhibits here...Fred Church's iceberg paintings and an exhibit about art in Ancient Greece. Hours Tuesday–Sunday, 11–5 Thursday 11–9 Closed Mondays Admission: $6 adults, $4 for children over 12 and seniors, free for children under 12 *admission is free for everyone on the first tuesday of each month. by keeweechic Dallas Museum of Art - From the Ross Avenue entrance, the museum looks a lot smaller than what it actually is. The spacious galleries feature a permanent collection of art ranging from ancient to contemporary periods. There are also two restaurants and a Museum Store. . Leave a Comment

Every Thursday night from mid May to late June, the Dallas Museum of Art in downtown Dallas hosts a Jazz Under the Stars outdoors concert. The musical styles range from fusion to swing to salsa and there is always a fun crowd. People bring blankets, chairs coolers, picnic baskets, etc and mix and mingle during the show. The music starts at 8:00, but people get there well before that. Leave a Comment

The only complaint I have is about the staff! The guides DO NOT know anything about the collections nor do they know their way around the museum. The gift shop employees also do not know about their inventory, nor do they seem concerned about customer service. With that out of the way, this museum is massive! Fantastic collection, from Pollock to O'Keefe. The family collection of Degas, Rembrandt and other fine artists SKETCHES, studies and drawings was the best treat of all! The DMOA is handicapped friendly, however, you will have several stalk you because I think they fear you will knock something valuable over. Also, it doesn't appear they like children or teenagers in their museum. My son had a constant guard following him, and when I asked why they wouldn't leave us alone, they stated they were to watch anyone excited over any certain piece of work, disabled or under 18. I noticed children were not abundant there, like I have at other museums. They have more *** security than at the Louvre. And, surprisingly, their security was non-existent around the most historic artworks! Nonetheless, their gift shop has great things, and their cafe is fantastic! Make sure to stop on your way out for a sweet treat!

by petterbroklin Dallas is located in Texas State. It is a third largest city in Texas State. Largest metropolitan area located dead center of state in this city. Cowboys have greatest value at in this city. It’s also a growing city then number of the shopping center located. In city west also have a greatest historical roots, which is the attractions to tourists. But IN East has the main things to do point which called white Rock Lake. Numbers of the tourist are doing fishing, boating and other activities. In Northwest area Dallas has the second biggest airport located. Oak lawn is the point of the gay but in North Dallas have a huge of shopping packed. One of the best place for winners which is Grapevine, it’s also a historical roots and numerous wineries. I think this is the Rocking area for all age’s couple. There is huge variety of fun or adventure so I was there in last year. My trip had gone too awesome and remarkable and I am sharing with you. I went to Dallas Fort worth area, DEW airport. It was so biggest then scene was too awesome at airport. If you want to visit or views all airport then you take some permission and you take around to airports. Also hire taxi at near the Taxi stand services for 6 days. It’s better way for visiting this city. But number of other convinces at there like bus services, train or more, I was also used in our trip. Reunion Tower and the Trinity Railway Express is so adventure and awesome in Dallas city. There are number of things to see for watching include The Sixth Floor Museum, Dallas Museum of Art, Meadows Museum of Art, Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Aquarium at Fair Park, Dallas Zoo and so many but I watched The sixth floor Museum and Dallas zoo its adventure and awesome. Before going to Dallas we reserved hotel rooms at lowest rates as compare the other hotel rates, this hotels was also like that and luxury with full of amenities, latest facilities. Collection of the cheap Dallas hotels in store all true travel hotels sites and one of them I reserved our hotel rooms also thanks to that sites which offer hotel rooms with lowest rates with discount offers. Basically all hotels are luxury but we can’t find which are cheaper so sites gives help for select them. Online hotel sites are better way for reservation due to save money, time and discount offer also. First day I watched the sixth floor museum. There were so many collection at there, secondly Dallas arts museum is collection of arts eastern and western country, it’s adventure time. In evening arrived at Spring Creek Barbeque restaurant, His menu was so simple and great. Beef, ham sausage, turkey, chicken, and ribs are available. About some dollar you get great dinner at there, restaurants foods so delicious. One was the great thing I watched that they served home made bread in every dish, totally it’s great restaurants in Dallas. About 9 o’clock we reached our hotel rooms, order some hotel coffee and then go sleep. Next day we would go White Rock Lake for views his scene with fishing also, brings also fishing cooked items at lake. Lake views were so adventure with more crowds. Area of Lake so long wide with water in near the fishing spot dropped our fishing rode. After noon caught three fishes. Dave prepare items for cooking fish and I did fishing. Few hours he cooked and take his taste after few minutes, about at evening 4 o’clock went for our hotels due to in night there are number of night ghost hunt this waters. IN our trip we visit his numerous shopping malls, markets, his historical streets, which were so, adventure and memorable also went grapevine area for tasting some great wine. Between last two days we watched Dallas zoo and his nearest some beautiful locations. But zoo tour was so adventure and entertainment. There are about 8,000 animals located in this zoo. I could not watch all animals between two days so leave for next trip. It’s trip for my friend, and me would go great. Take some great memorable views in our mind come back to our home. by jholley534 The Dallas Museum of Art was established in 1903 and features an outstanding collection of more than 23,000 works of art from around the world. The museums art collections include African, American, Ancient American, Ancient Mediterranean, Asian, Contemporary, Decortative Arts, European, Pacific Islands & Provenance. Still and video photography is permitted only in the permanent collection galleries. Flash photography and camera lights are not permitted. Ask someone if you do not understand the difference between permanent pieces and pieces on loan. The staff is extremely helpful. My favorite part of the musuem is the Wendy and Emery Reves Collection. This 11,000 square foot area is a duplication of six rooms from the Reves' Mediterranean villa, Riviera villa La Pausa. The re-creation is located in the Decorative Arts wing and contains Impressionist and post-Impressionist works by such masters as Paul Cezanne, Paul Gauguin, Claude Monet, Pierre Auguste Renoir and Vincent van Gogh. Also displayed are antique furniture, Chinese porcelain and Winston Churchill memorabilia. The 1,400 piece collection was bequeathed to the museum by Mrs. Reves to honor the memory of her late husband and was opened to the public in late 1985. The collection & story of Wendy Reves has truly sparked my interest in both art and her life. I have been enamored by both since my visit and would highly recommend experiencing this collection for yourself. Leave a Comment
