Deep Ellum and the Arts District

Deep Ellum, which confusingly is Elm on all the street signs, is a little cheesy, but it's coming back nicely. It's close to the arts district and it's not too hard to cab around that area and in some cases even mass transit (Dallas is behind the curve on the whole mass transit thing, but we're trying to catch up... it's just that so many of us refuse to use it). You can catch a train to down town then that area is probably about a $5 cab ride. Its a great little part of town for small theaters etc.. in fact there is this great little Shakespeare troupe.. oh, well, I digress.

It's a nice evening to say train hop to Downtown, or one of the Deep Ellum theaters, take in some art or a show. Cab on over to Deep Ellum and have a really nice dinner, then maybe a nice little pub crawl up and down the strip. Which could also be done on a multitude of budgets depending on how fabu! you needed to be.

Oh! if you make it over there, be sure and check out the murals under the Good Latimer street bridge. Local artists typically repaint them ... uh.. yearly? more or less. maybe.

Anyway, I don't get down there as much anymore as I'd really like too, and it seems like they are frequently different when I see them.

Deep Ellum Graffiti

Head down to Deep Ellum and check out all the graffiti art on the buildings and highway overpasses. Their are several graffiti artists who add new art every couple of weeks, so, the images are constantly changing.
