    George Bannerman Dealey

The statue of George Dealey stands in the area which was named after him and now infamous - 'Dealey Plaza'. He was editor and owner of the Dallas Morning News.

In the late 1920's George led a crusade to re-route the Trinity River away from the downtown area in an attempt to avoid the flooding problems which occurred every year. The Trinity River now flows one mile away from this site.

    West End Marketplace

Once dilapidated old warehouses, they have now been renovated and converted into boutiques, nightclubs, bars, and restaurants in what was the original business district of downtown Dallas.

During the Day the Marketplace has an indoor food court, golf facility, and video arcade. At night you can take your choice of restaurants and bars, some with outdoor seating to watch the world go by.

    Open : 11am-10pm Mon-Thu; 11am-midnight Fri-Sat; noon-6pm Sun.

    Dallas Symphony

The Morton Meyerson center is a great place to go and hear the Dallas Symphony. The building is an architechtual marvel and there isn`t a bad seat in the house, of course it doesn`t compare to a Kid Rock concert but it is a nice change.

Dallas is a beautiful modern city with new and old architechture.

So much to see and do in this lively city from sports, concerts, entertainment, opera and art. We have a new Nasher art sculpture museum which opened a year ago also. The best in the world.

    West End

This is an area that is comprized of one big remodeled warehouse that contains many specialty shops and a movie theater. Live bands play outside many nights a week during good weather. Also, many restaruants and bars can be found nearby within walking distance. Carriage rides will take you on a short tour around the area. Great also because if you go after 6pm or on Sunday parking is free under the bridge and most entertainment is free.

There are so many pics I can get of the city, I will try to add more with time.

Funny, when you live in a city, you take it for granted and see it every day.

Dallas is a Beautiful moderen city and no you will not find cowboys on the streets of Dallas.

  • Walk Around

    by Faith08 Written Sep 21, 2007

Don't be scared off by people telling you there's nothing to do in downtown Dallas. Actually, there's lots to do!

Visit the lovely Dallas World Aquarium (designed to look like a rainforest, pretty cool), check out the Sixth Floor Museum, walk around West End and explore downtown. More people are moving down there these days, and more and more businesses are opening up. There's actually quite a few shopping opportunities downtown!

    Something Old, Something New

    by where2next Updated Mar 27, 2004

Downtown Dallas, though deserted other than during the work day, is a good contrast between old and new. I was surprised to see many older buildings amongst all the new skyscrapers. So perhaps in addition to seeing the Sixth Floor, maybe stroll a few blocks here and there so see some of downtown.

    Skyline view

by elmcarra Written Jul 26, 2004

Dallas has the most beautiful skyline...Im not just saying that! It is awesome, but especially at night...go and see! One of the best views is driving south on I-35E (coming from the north obviously). Continue driving as you feel like youre being swallowed up by the big city. Kewl.

This is it, Dallas my hometown.

What a beautiful day it was, just 100 degrees. Yes, Dallas has the heat in the summer.

To survive, I stay in the air conditioning. :)

There is a long pool on Dealey Plaza which from this angle (photo) you can see the 6th floor window where the President was reportedly shot from.
