The Museum was founded in 1965 by Algur H. Meadows for the purpose of display and study of Spanish art. The museum has expanded a great deal since then. The original collection of Spanish art, the Meadows Museum Collection, includes over 500 works which span from the 10th through the 20th century. It is believed to be one of the finest collections of Spanish art in the world.

The Meadows Museum displays the Elizabeth Meadows collection of 20th century sculpture as well as taking care of over 1400 works of art from the University Art collection some of which are works by graduates of SMU.
Outside the building is this amazing ‘sculpture’ I guess you might call it. The undulating timber panels ripple over a pond of water and look quite amazing.
