SMU is sometimes called the Harvard of the South. I'm not sure if it academically deserves this but economically it may. It is a beatiful campous and looks rather Ivly league. It is ranked in the top 50 of universities in The USA, and has very well known Graduate schools for both business and law.
A casual walk through the campus of Southern Methodist University, followed by a good coffee and pastry at the nearby La Madeline French Bakery, is a pleasant way to spend a morning in Dallas. The campus is lovely, well shaded (important here in Dallas) and populated with friendly students and staff. There are several museums on campus, and I have always felt free to explore the building (just look academic!)
After exploration, leave SMU to Mockingbird lane and walk past the football stadium. Just off campus is the La Madeline bakery. I often read my newspaper here as I drink my
morning coffee. The ambience is relaxed European and the food is excellent.
This is where The Sothern Methodists Mustangs Play football. The games can be seen on ESPN and other sports channels.
