D.A.R.T. / Other Trains, Dallas
We found the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) train system to be quite handy - since we had turned our rental car in after finishing up with our Oklahoma weekend excusion. For US$2 per day, you can use the train and bus system as many times as you wish. We used it to travel to both the West End Market Place area and to the Park Lane shopping mall to the north of city centre.
**Trinity Railway Express - train that travels between Dallas and Ft. Worth - also stops at DFW airport. Scheduled train service is provided Monday thru Saturday. $4 for a day pass to ride back and forth from D. to Ft. W. Joint venture of The T and DART. http://www.dart.org/riding.asp?zeon=howtre
***Texas Eagle. Amtrak train which travels to and from Dallas. Los Angeles, Oklahoma City, Chicago, El Paso, Hot Springs, and Brownsville are some of the locations that can be reached using the Texas Eagle.
If you plan on scooting around Dallas all day. Get a day pass to save you some money. OR if you plan on getting smashed... Dart Rail is the answer once again :)
Dallas Area Transit Authority
I took DART for the first time November 22, 2003. They said that JFK event was going to bring many people, so I figured I better not try to park downtown.
The Dart system will take you to many places around Dallas. I took it only once because I travel by car mostly.
