The National Polka Festival scheduled at least 15 different Polka Bands over the course of a weekend. We were only there for one day, but I imagine the entire town joined in on the festivities!
Three different halls were involved that featured folk dancing and live music. Saturday evening we were privileged to hear Polka Freak Out, a band from Denton, Texas.
They performed traditional polkas, but added a new dimension to the entertainment by playing Elvis and Beatles style music to a polka beat. Now THAT was something unusual- but as testament to the group's popularity...the crowd loved it!
