Favorite thing: If it is your first time going to FortWorth, visit Sundance Square in downtown. The old downtown buildings have been converted into restaurants, bars, theaters & shops. Sundance Square includes The Bass Hall & 2 movie theaters & other entertainment places(for families, singles etc)
You must visit Billy Bobs, it is the largest Honky Tonk with bull riding, rodeos, bars and famous Country and Western bands perform in concert.
Fondest memory: It is kind of like seeing the 'stars' squares in Hollywood, all the the famous C & W stars have their hand prints or huff prints displayed. There are concerts from the best........this is the place to perform. You can even ride that famous 'mechanical bull'.
Go see the Horse Stables Tree.
Well, I wouldn't say *absolutely must* because after all, it is just a tree with a planter around it. Anyway, because it is described in the introduction I thought I'd put a photo of it here. Actually, I missed the tree--it's out of the picture on the right (LOL). I just got a photo of Mr. Sel Graham telling us all about it and pointing out where the fort used to be.
Favorite thing: Fort Worth is a big city but still small enough you can ask a passing cowboy on horse back for directions. This cowboy works at the Stockyards area. You'll even see longhorn cattle being herded down the street there. The Fort Worth Herd is the area's tribute to it's growth as a cowtown.
Visit the Fort Worth Stockyards, this will take you back to the old west, great night life, great steak restaurants, and even a cattle drive. But don't miss the downtown area, the Bass performance hall is a sight to behold! Also you must visit the Sundance Square area.
Fondest memory: Inside the Botanical Gardens, there is the Japanese Garden it is absolutely beautiful and so peaceful.
The Ft Worth Convention Center hosts everything from Religous events to Gun shows.
Refer to their web site for more information:
