Billy Bob's: Billy Bob's Texas
The building where Billy Bobs now reside was built in 1910 and was once a large open-air barn for housing prize cattle during the Fort Worth Stock Show.
During World War II, the building was used as an airplane factory for the Globe Aircraft Corporation. In April 1981, Billy Bob's Texas opened and artists who appeared in their first week were Waylon Jennings, Janie Fricke & Willie Nelson. Billy Bob's has been popular on TV and in movies with several episodes of the t.v. series "Dallas" being shot there as well as shows ilike "Walker Texas Ranger", CBS's "Happy New Year America", "CBS This Morning" and The Nashville Network's "On Stage" series.
Billy Bob's s known for hosting Country Music's biggest stars as well as being host to other stars such as Gloria Estefan & The Miami Sound Machine, Ringo Starr, .38 Special, Men At Work, The Go-Go's, Steppenwolf, & ZZ Top.

Billy Bob's Texas: Honky Tonk
We made it there pretty late after the Rodeo, and missed Billy Bob's own bull riding show. Yep, this honky tonk, the world's largest honky tonk, has its own indoor rodeo/bull riding arena. Unbelievable but I have seen that place, it's true three acres! It has a Texas-size dance floor - Veronica suggested for us to dance on, but yay, with those great looking folks doing the line dance thing on the Texas-seize dance floor, I felt way too shy. Funny though, Billy Bob's offers dance lessons on Mondays & Sundays (by Wendell Nelson ph: 817-923-9215). Next time I will, prior to a night out at Billy Bob's, take some lessons to get ready for Billy Bob's dance floor. However, it's a very nice place with countless of bar stations, restaurants, arcade games, a Wall of Fame with celebrity handprints, and a general store. I had my hand in Johnny Cash's hand print. Lucky me. They also do live music but we've been too tired to stay there much longer than an hour. The bouncers are very nice too, they do keep everything calm & friendly. One can be indeed very comfortable at Billy Bob's. It's necessary to show ID which is a good thing.
Billy Bob’s is the worlds largest ‘honky tonk’. In 2001 it was awarded Country Music Club of the Year by the Academy of Country Music. This was the 5th time for them to receive this award. There is almost 3 acres to Billy Bob’s and they can accommodate over 6,000 customers. There are 2 stage areas – the Concert Stage and the Honky Tonk Stage with dance floor.
The Dance Floor
Instead of a mirrored rotating ball above the dance floor you will see a unique mirrored rotating saddle instead.
Open : Monday - Saturday from 11 AM until 2 AM and on Sundays from 12 Noon until 2 AM.
Let'er Buck Saloon
Overall at Billy Bob's there are some 31 bar stations - Let'er Buck Saloon is just one of the bars. A few records have been set at BB's.
* The most bottled beer sold in one night was at a Hank Williams Jr. Concert. A total of 16,000 bottles were sold.
* The next highest bottled beer sales totalled 13,000 during a Clint Black Concert.
* Merle Haggard once bought a round of Drinks for the whole Club & set a world record.
Billy Bob's: Billy Bob's
At BB's, you can see live country music, do some 2 steppin', or just finish off some Lone Stars. Country music stars and wanna-be's play at Billy Bob's at sometime or another. The dance floors are huge. Video games and pool tables can be found. It's a good place for people that have watched the movie Urban Cowboy too many times...but john Travolta and Debra Winger more than likely won't be there...they're at Gilley's of course!
Dress Code: Boots and Stetsons!
In the Stockyards area I...
In the Stockyards area I noticed a lot of old fashioned 'saloons'. The famous Billy Bobs is in that area also. I did not explore the night life of Fort Worth but I would guess the Stockyards are a good place to begin exploring it.
Billy Bob's Texas: Honky-tonk heaven
I went to Billy Bob’s Texas and it was a blast. The bar is huge and it is very popular. It is a honky-tonk so if you can’t stand country western music you will not like it. It attracts a lot of people but, mostly country music folks. There is a cover charge, even during the week. The drinks are expensive so have a few before going. On the weekends it is crowded and there are a lot of people to meet. Overall a good time. If you are there you have to go just to see what it's like. You can also ride the bull.
Dress Code: Coat and tie NOT required.
