Flying Saucer, Fort Worth

One of those local hangouts, but very popular with visitors once they discover it. I know because everyone I know likes to come here when they visit Fort Worth. It is unique because they serve over 240+ brands of beers and 100 different brewing styles. Plus, they serve food too!

HOURS OF OPERATION:
Monday – Wednesday: 11:00am - 1:00am
Thursday – Saturday: 11:00am - 2:00am
Sunday: 12noon - 12 midnight

It is also a historical building. Called the Land Title Block Building, it is one of the best Victorian commerical buildings in Downtown. It also has shades of the Romanesque Revival style. The building is red brick with red sandstone trim, original stained glass windows, and original multi-colored glazed brick. It was designed by Haggard and Sanguinet of Fort Worth and originally housed the Land Mortgage Bank, the Chamberlain Investment Co. (developers of the Arlington Heights subdivision in Fort Worth), and the law firm of Ross, Herd, & Ross. One of the decorative pieces of sandstone showing an owl and a mockingbird. Another is the initials of R.H.R. Over the years, there have been a number of tenants. The Flying Saucer Beer Imporium is the current tenant of the structure utilizing the old bank lobby as the main bar. Flying Saucer is a great pub in downtown Fort Worth. I stopped in for three beers: a Fat Tire from Colorado, a Ugly Pug from Fort Worth's Rahr brewery, and a local Real Ale Fireman No 4. All were $2.75 each since Monday is "Pint Nite," when about 90 percent of the beers are just $2.75. I sat at one of the few remaining seats at the busy bar, though the place did die down around 8pm.

I sat next to a local who pointed out many of the area's great Mexican restaurants such as Mercado Juarez. He also helped me pick out the local beers including the Rahr Brewery offerings and those from the Real Brewery in Blanco Texas. Being a local and a regular, he said the food at the Flying Saucer is very good.

Housed in the historic Land Title Block, the Flying Saucer Draught Emporium is where you will find your favourite beer, the tap selection is extensive. They have lagers, stouts, ambers, browns, pales, domestic, or imported. On the limited menu are sandwiches and roast beef quesadilla and to top that off is a huge cigar list. There is also live musical entertainment. They will validate parking.
