Sundance Square: Billy Miner's Saloon - Downtown Fort Worth

Since I was staying nearby Sundance Square, I wanted to try one of the less touristy places in the area, and Billy Miner's Saloon was my choice. On a cold, rainy February night I wandered in, and the large establishment with the huge rectangular bar was very quiet. I grabbed one of the seats on the street side of the bar and ordered a local Shiner Bock--which came out ice cold and tasty--and I asked for a menu. The beer was great, but it turned out I had to walk back to the kitchen to place my order. After downing most of my tasty brew, I finally made the journey to the back of the restaurant to order my dinner. After reviewing their fast-food like menu, I quickly decided on the chicken fried steak sandwich with fries... I still don't know if it was chicken or steak. It was ready a few minutes later when they mumbled "EwingJR98" over the loudspeaker. The food was hot and fresh, but I still can't believe it was all but self serve. The beers were dirt cheap at $2 each, and the sandwich was small, but reasonably priced at $8.

There is a building several blocks from Billy Miner's Saloon that says Billy Miner's Restaurant on the side, but I can find no reference to this on the internet.

Sundance Square: Friday & Saturday this place is alive~

Not that there is lots to see at night during the week at Sundance Square, but it closes up around 6-7PM. Yet, during Friday & Saturday night this place is alive with activity with its restaurants and bars. Specifically during summer time, they have lots of outdoor events going on. As you can see in my photo's, at night this places looks fantastic.

    mural in Sundance Square

There are also some cool bars in downtown Ft. Worth - In one, I remember sitting on a horse saddle/bar stool while wasting the night away. The area is called Sundance Square. A good place to find bars, cafes, restaurants, and shops.

Sundance Square: Nightlife in Fort Worth

    by jm34bee Written Aug 9, 2007 56 reviews

Most of the good nightlife in Fort Worth is in Sundance Square. There are several bars with all kinds of crowds that hang out here. You can find several great places to eat & drink if you walk around the area. There are upscale bars and cheaper bars with drinks around $2.

Dress Code: Fort Worth is fairly casual but anything goes.

You can do almost everything in downtown. Lots of free parking on the weekends, just look for the mural.
