If you are headed to Fort Worth in September, you are coming on the tail end of the summer time. It will not be nearly as hot as July and August, but you will definitely need to be ready for the warmth. It is also the middle of potential hurricane season, so based on the weather report, there might be a higher chance of rain/thunderstorms. I would recommend packing for very warm weather, and also throw in some sort of light rain coat just in case.

Also, Fort Worth is very condusive to walking, especially in the museum district and the Stockyards, so bring some comfortable walking shoes, and enjoy the sunshine!

  • Even in late September Ft. Worth was still quite hot, in the low 90s, it seems to be a fairly casual city so I was fine with capri pants and nice tops for dinner. Pack light colored clothes, it really makes a difference in how hot you feel. It gets a little cooler at night but I never needed more than a short sleeved shirt.

We didn't have a drop of rain so I was fine in sandals the entire trip. But I also packed an umbrella and light sweater just in case, after all it is still hurricane season in September

Bring a hat if you don't want your head to scorch

    Sunscreen

I brought a water bottle from home, saved me from having to buy bottled water while out touring.

I love to send postcards when we travel, but sometimes forget the stamps. Pick up some beforehand and it will be so much easier to share a little of your trip with friends or family back home if you are traveling domestically!

  • In FW around June or so is when it gets really hot(80s-100s) so if you are traveling to FW around that time you should take loose cloths. In any case you should take a pair or shorts etc, you can never be to sure about North Texas weather.

If you are going to be doing alot of walking then the 2 main things you need to have is Bug Spray & Sunscreen!!!!

You may want to bring your Wrangler jeans (I have none), cowboy boots and cowboy hat or get one custom made for you there. I did buy some Ropers though.

You won't need boots or a cowboy hat. You can buy those things in Texas when you get there. A phrase book to explain Texas slang would be handy...
    **Come again Pardner.
Translation: Come back friend and bring lots of money.
** The engine's runnin' but ain't nobody driving
    Translation: Not overly-intelligent.
** Tighter than bark on a tree
    Translation: Not very generous.
    ** Big hat, no cattle
Translation: All talk and no action.
** We've howdied but we ain't shook yet
Translation: We've made a brief acquaintance, but not been formally introduced.
** He thinks the sun come up just to hear him crow
Translation: He has a pretty high opinion of himself.
** As welcome as a skunk at a lawn party
    Translation: (self-explanatory).
** S/He's got tongue enough for 10 rows of teeth
    Translation: Talks a lot.
** It's so dry the trees are bribin' the dogs
Translation: We really could use a little rain around here
** Just because a chicken has wings don't mean it can fly
    Translation: Appearances can be deceptive.
** This ain't my first rodeo
    Translation: I've been around awhile.
** He looks like the dog's been keepin' him under the porch
Translation: Not the most handsome of men.
** They ate supper before they said grace
    Translation: Living in sin.
** As full of wind as a corn-eating horse
    Translation: Rather prone to boasting.
** You can put your boots in the oven, but that don't make 'em biscuits
Translation: You can say whatever you want about something, but that doesn't change what it is.

  • Whatever you usually take.

In the summer make sure you bring light clothes shorts, tank tops tee shirts... Because it gets HOT here from june till september. 100+ degrees or better sometimes. The winter is usually mild but it can get pretty chilly in a heartbeat so bring a big coat and warm clothes.

You can buy anything in Fort Worth that you need. Go to you local grocery store and get the best deals.

Fort Worth has many lakes within driving distance.(Benbrook,Eagle Mountain,Lake Worth)All of these places have campsites and boat docks available. All have pretty good fishing.

Sun Block is always a good thing.
